Going to have to score more points to beat San Diego. San Diego can score and they will, however, their defense is subpar and that needs to be capitalized on. My prediction is the Jets need a minimum of 28 points to win this game and may need 38. Any thoughts?
Jets should be able to move the ball all night vs San Diego. Question is how many pts will our kicker and gutless coaching staff cost us.
I actually think our D is the stronger point (mainly bc of the poor Offensive playcalling) and will contain San Diego's O. Tomlinson isn't right at the moment, and our Secondary is solid. The pass-rush should only improve and God-help-us, hopefully Sutton will call an aggressive gameplan. I think we'll need somewhere in the 20's to win; I'm saying 24.
The best part about getting rid of Ted Cottrell is getting to face an opposing DEF. coached by him. The Chargers just aren't the same without Shawn.
San Diego has had two tough losses and now they are up against the 1-1 Jets. Ill pick the Jets , but that's just me. Now for what worries me. We looked like that other tissue yesterday and never gave Farve any protection after New England made their adjustments ...Like 10 minuets into the game. That's the first point . No adjustments on offense . I know with a rookie that your weening in you keep it simple and run first , but not with Brett Farve. If its a communication issue (Play calls / Terminology) then you go to the basic bread and butter , Slants out routes ; You know the things that made chad Pennington look like he was actually accomplishing something against a superior team. Next we have what I call typical jets Shits. A new Kicker , who steps right into the pot hole that Nuuge strained his thigh in and what do ya know wide right. Then you have tipped balls falling right into the hands of the receivers and TE's who some how got stuck to the bench playing with crazy glue rather then filling the end zone on three straight runs into a defense that knew what was coming. Lets get it right . Lets play to our strengths . Lets Put our QB in position to win it . We need to win and turn the story into "Whats wrong with the Chargers" and not "Whats eating Farves flakes" :jets:
Tomlinson has an injured toe. I think this should affect their offense. I think our secondary and our pass rush can slow their passing game.
Perhaps, but San Diego's defense isn't that good either without Merriman and with Cromo slowed by an injury.
Emmit Smith, welcome to the site Seriously, this offense can not and will not score 38 points this week.
Favre and Cutler are gun-slingers...Both have solid running games, solid WR's...Marshall is obviously the best of the bunch... Let Favre be Favre and fire the ball everywhere...Whether he throws 3 INTs or 3 TDs who gives a shit...Let him be Favre.
I always figure that usually, in the NFL, the most pissed-off team wins the game. Look at last week: The Pats beat the Jets because they played the "no respect" card (as usual). The Jets seemed overconfident after beating the 'Fins. The media were burying the Patriots. And throw in the usual, hatred that Darth Belichek has towards The Emerald City... Anyhow, to quote my favorite analyst, Woody Paige: "YOU'VE GOT TO LOOK AT THE SCHEDULE!" The Chargers' game going to be tough for the Jets. The Chargers lost to the Broncos in pat due to a terrible officials' call. They're 0-2 and they're supposed to be a Super Bowl team. If they can't beat the Jets, at home? Their season is over. I'm writing this game off. While I don't think it's a "can't win" game, I chalk it up to a "doesn't matter," because look what's down the road: 9/28: The Arizona Cards in NYC: THIS is a must-win game for our Gang Green. If we can't beat them? Then the rest of the season will look, um, er, well, you know. But even if they lose... BYE WEEK!!!! Like I said before, this is usually when Mangini fixes what's broken. So from this point on, things become crucial! 10/12, 10/19, 10/26: Three games in a row against teams that look beatable: The Cincinnati Bengwads, The Oakland Traitors, and Herm Edwards' Chiefs. IMHO if the Jets lose one game against any o these three, we are in big trouble. After that comes a match against the Bills (we got to beat them at least once this year!) and the Rams (who might be the worst). Then comes the rematch against the Patriots, which is another must-win, after the atrocious game last Sunday. The Jets don' have to win against the Chargers (although that would be nice) but they have to play better. In Mangini's own words, they have to improve every week. This is a team with a lot of recent signings, so it might take a while for the chemistry to develop, and the jets still have a lot of time to make it happen.
Unless someone gives Schotty the pages they ripped out of the playbook, no way we put up more than 13 points. Honestly, I think if we just choose the "ask madden" option in the playbook, we should be just fine.
So, Shawne Merriman is out for the year. LT has a broken toe. The Chargers secondary looks atrocious. We have Brett Favre. So, of course, we should definetely win this game. All of this sounds just sounds too eerily familiar...
:manning: First off the Chargers offense is not all LT and the defense not all shawne merriman. With or without merriman our defense would've sucked last week. Cromartie didn't practice all week and it showed and we have a backup at ILB with Jamal williams our dt hurt. In a 3-4 im sure u guys know what a DT means to your defenses ability to perform. As it is the Chargers scored at will last week without LT and passed for nearly 400 yards against Champ Bailey and Dre Bly consistently roasting both. Darren Sproles is no joke either with 317 all purpose yards. Fact is LT will play and more so than last week.
Instead of setting up the pass with the run, I'd like to see us set up the run with the pass. Come out gunslinging and get some points on the board. Then run the shit out of it. Why not throw on first down while we're at it.
