When the bullpen is garbage, it is only natural to overstretch the starters, but not to dwell on the past it is very nice to see that Niese rebounded like he did. If he could be somewhat reliable, it could be huge for our playoff hopes.
But the bullpen isn't garbage, especially when you can afford to match up with every batter the Braves have up there the last 2 innings because your starter went 7 and you've played 1 game in 3 days and you've got expanded September rosters.
Obviously I missed the wrong game today. Nice to see a strong bounceback from game 1 for the team and from his last start for Niese. Hopefully Ollie bounces back similarly tomorrow. The Phils have Blanton (5.58 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in his last 6 starts) and Myers (has generally pitched well since August but gave up 4 runs in a loss to Florida in his last start) going in their doubleheader against Bush and Suppan, so there may be a bunch of runs scored.
Perez with 26 pitches and gives up a run in the top of the first. Not a good sign. Wright with a HR to right to tie the game. Is a good sign.

Perez is giving up lots of hard-hit balls and is past 70 pitches in less than 4 innings. Mets need to score lots more runs.
Pathetic defense by Campillo costs the Braves a run. Props to Ollie for running hard and being aggressive on the basepaths. Campillo now out.
Ollie settles down and needs only 40 pitches for 3 more scoreless innings. It will be up to the bullpen now. More runs, please.
