Does Clowney officially have a roster spot even though he is probably on injured reserve? I see he is on this sites team roster, but is making $0. I just am puzzled. I am looking forward to Clowney coming back and joining the team again, though.

Ainge is not listed anywhere on the team roster on this site. Is he still on the team? Is he on the practice squad? Was he released?

Both of them made the 55 man roster. I doubt Ainge will be active for any games this year unless someone gets hurt. Clowney has a long way to recover from that injury but they did not put him on the IR. If they had put him on IR he would have had to clear waivers and someone else would have picked him up.

I believe they're protected on IR., and that they have to clear waivers to make the practice squad. (I could be wrong)

Your correct, being put on IR just means your done for the season. I think the Jets are hoping to get Clowney back before the end of the season.

My understanding is that once you're on the 53 man roster you can be put on IR without having to clear waivers. I'm not sure on that though.

I remember reading that he wouldn't be out for too long.

The Jets are hoping Clowney can come back in the last half of the season as a deep threat for Favre. Ainge is just on the roster as the 4th backup - i guess they see something in the kid.

Who did they get rid of for Feeley? Cummings?

Someone said it was because he is a rookie and wasn't on the 53 man roster yet. Once you're on the 53 man roster you can go right to IR.

Hmm, so if one of your Rookies gets hurt during Camp, you gotta wait till you cut down to 53 to put him on IR and then pick up one of the Guys you just cut again?

    yes.

It sounds stupid, I know. That's what was explained to me. It doesn't make much sense to me though.

The rules are wierd. The players association didn't want teams stashing away development players on the IR for future years. I don't know the specific rules but I know before the season starts you can't IR rookies without them going through waivers.

Yes, it was Cummings, and you would think that Feeley would have brought out the best in Cummings, too.

According to Rotoworld, Cummings was cut to make room for a new OL.

I posted it somewhere in the Feely thread I believe.

You are on a roll this week GH.

You're correct. And if you think about it, that's the only way it would make any sense.

Yes, you're OUT, but protected from getting picked off waivers from another squad. PUP gives the option to return at week 6 I believe
