Do you believe that the performance drop-off was as extreme as it will be with Brady/Cassel? Yes, injuries happen and depth is important. However, some things can't just be replace, and a HOF qb is one of them. If Kobe downs down with a torn ACL that is not as significant as if Ricky David goes down for Clippers.
I am sure that they weren't feeling sorry for us when Chad went down with injury upon injury crippling him to patheticness. And I am sure they ignored us is we spoke about any excuses. Wins speak a helluva louder than any whinny fan excuses.
The dropoff isn't as extreme but they did add up turning a QB with somewhat of an arm with a brain to a QB with the arm strength of a 5 year old girl.
Exactly. We're also in a very different position than teams in 1999. For one, we didn't win the Super Bowl in 98/99. We didn't even make the Super Bowl, thanks to our 2nd half meltdown and some bizarre plays in the AFCC. We also weren't a dynasty. We didn't have the league MVP, and we weren't coming off a 16-0 season. I wanted to beat the Pats while they threw everything they had at us. I'll take a win no matter what, and if we win the division, I'll be ecstatic no matter how we did it. In our games against the Pats, though, it won't be quite as sweet beating them without #12 on the field. I'm certainly not going to say that I'm thrilled he got hurt because it helps my team. Also, to weigh in on the Pats fans thing, most of the Pats fans I know lack any sort of credibility and get no respect from me anyway. I don't care about their excuses if we take the division.
After reading his retirement letter, I seriously doubt Culpepper comes back. He was adamant about not returning just because of an injury to a QB, and he'd have a tough time getting reinstated after the way he called out the NFL in general.
Injuries are a part of football. Every team deals with them every year. The Pats have been very lucky the last few years and have not had too many key players go down. Teams should be prepared at all times if someone goes down, if they are not it is no ones fault but their own. I for one have never given a fk what Pats fans have had to say (No offense to the rational Pats posters here, there are too many irrational Pats fans though) and won't really care if they think things would have been different.

Whatever. Vinny getting hurt in '99 ruined our Super Bowl run. Now time has made up for it. That's the way I see it.
I think BF would drive a control freak like BB wild. Also who knows what Ted Thompson would have done to F it up. But I'd bet Moss might even be pressing for him instead of Culpepper, yeah.
