Didn't see the Saints game today but he had 9 tackles. Would be very nice to swap our 4th for the Saints 2nd.
Agreed. I hope Vilma has a great year for two reasons. 1) I hope he does well because he works hard and is a goood person. 2) The better he does the higher pick we get. Go Vilma!!!!
A second round pick will be nice. Vilma plays to his potential in the 4-3 and it could happen. Isn't there a playing time deal in that though?
The Saint?s GM said some months ago, that there was never a 2nd included in the Deal. All we get is a 3rd.
That's incorrect. The deal even got discussed more because of the Shockey trade. If Vilma has a good season and I don't remember what has to happen for the compensation to become a second round pick then the Giants will get the Saints 2010 first round pick. If we give up our 4th and get the Saints third then the Giants will get the second.
I read that, too when they traded for shockey, but Mickey Loomis, the Saints GM said afterwards in a Radio Interview, that there was never a 2nd Rounder involved in the Vilma Deal. Since I never read that the "If the Jets get the 2nd the Giants the the 1st in 2010"-Story was confirmed by anyone, It is probably just something a beatwrighter made up and the Story made his way throu the Internet. A Quote from Loomis seems to be a much more relieable source.
God, I hope Vilma can stay healthy, be involved in as many plays as possible & turn that draft pick into something good.
I believe the 2nd round pick would go to us if AFTER this season, the number of snaps he takes meets a certain criteria, and the Saints sign him to a long-term deal.
The more I think about it we have the potential to not only have a very good season, but have several high picks this up comming draft. it puts a big smile on my face.
