Hey guys and girls...dont know if this is a repeat thread so ill try... Listening to radio and looking at websites...its unbelievable how many "experts" are picking either the jets to lose against miami or for it to be a very close game...I know the Jets have to prove the changes they made will make them a great team but they are getting no respect...yea they have to earn it but come on...all I have been hearing is that this is a Parcells team and they are better everywhere and Chad, as much as I love him, will come out guns blazing and he knows the jets too well...I dont know...I am really hoping for a huge win...a statement game...
I don't blame the "experts", I fear this game. This is typically a game the Jets would lose. They are supposed to win, but they are the Jets. Until this franchise stops choking all the time, the "experts" could be right. I'm hoping for a big win but it's going to be really tough. I expect it to be close too.
that was a valid point...it is a trap game...but to say that miami has a talent level close to the jets just because Parcells is there is not very accurate, maybe its true...who knows...
It pretty much goes like this. We took a lot of chances this offseason. By getting Favre and parting with Chad the Jets bar was raised. The Dolphins with nowhere to go but up had a pretty decent QB fall into their lap. The pressure is ALL on the Jets. The Dolphins are the safe pick. I fear this game big time
I think this is one of those "wierd" games ...scripted out of Hollywood..anything can happen. I KNOW that we have better talent, but you've got the opposing QB with a chip on his shoulder, a LEDGEND (but he's new)....I look for a great performance from Chad that falls JUST SHORT..........JETS WIN JETS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know why some of you are so worried. We have some new leaders on this team - Favre and Jenkins on D that will have this team pumped and ready to play. I can't see Favre letting this offense get soft in the 1st game of the season. And believe me, Jenkins will be in peoples faces on the D is they get soft. Lets remember we are facing a team that was 1-15 last year, lost the Dancing Queen and Thomas their best D players and Tuna is not the coach. I've been a long suffering fan of 35 years and usually a pessimist, but I don't think I've ever been more optimistic about a season opener. We've got a new team folks, and not since Namath has it been piloted by a legend.
The Jets aren't even respected by many of their fans...why should we gain national respect yet? I think we'll start getting respect right around the time Jets fans are awed by their team...which'll happen when we actually do something...probably this year.
Favre took the Pack to the SB 30 years after their 1968 win in 1997, the question is will he be the one to take the Jets 40 years after 1969? (take the leap years out of the mix and tidal charts, just go by the stars)
No kidding... we haven't even played an official down with this revamped team and already someone is bitching about respect. I hate threads like this. Winning breeds respect. We'll get respect when we win and beat someone meaningful... when we win a SB we get respect. Sheeeesh...
The Jets are good team this year: improved o-line, d-line, linebackers, and, of course Cotchery and Coles catching lasers from Brett Farve. With the injuries the Bills have and the suspect offense in Miami, 2nd place doesnt look to far away. But, this is on paper. Lets see it on the field. Lets earn our respect. SQUISH THE FISH!! :finssuck::jets:
I thought that the JETS were improved even before we got Favre...........adding him could push us to the next level.................or not.....I'm just as usual, CAUTIOUSLY optmistic!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Jet defense owns this game. The Dullfins have a young offensive line and nobody that scares me on offense. Coupled with a pocket passer with no vertical threat, I can't see them moving the ball consistently. Favre and the offense needs to be efficient and not turn it over and we cantt lose. Ricky Williams no longer scares me, forget all the pre-season hype, he ain't the same back and running the ball on the NYJ is no longer an option. The same old Jets are history because we are going to have a top 5 defense.
Talk about respect AFTER winning a damn thing. Jets were just 4-12 this past season. What did you expect anyway?
I'm not saying our D won't own...but Brown and Williams are going to push our front 7 to the limits...Pouha, Mosley, Brown, and DeVito will really have to play well cause Jenkins is going to be a tired man Sunday.
