Keith, I don't give a shit what he wants - he should have been taken out after the double. They have 15 pitchers on the roster now, and yet he refuses to take this guy out. Manuel has outdone himself here. Edit: excuse me, they have 18 pitchers on the roster.
Isn't the MO of Mets closers (historically / last 15 years) to let runners on base, make the fans nervous and then get out of it? Granted, the "get out of it" part has been lacking since Wagner went down, but I'd am really shocked when there is a 1-2-3 inning by a Mets closer
every game is the same way get early lead try and hang on sometimes we do, sometimes we dont amazing.
I see we won a game in which our bullpen pitched 7 innings. That's obviously good...Before blowing up, how did Niese look? How should I feel about him? I feel very vulnerable without being able to watch.
Niese looked awful but it really was a terrible situation to throw a kid into for his first start. Middle of a pennant race, team that murders LHP etc.
I really think that that is key - starting three straight lefties against this team is crazy, but at least with Santana and Perez you can understand it. Starting a RHP really would have made more sense here. Mets bullpen with 13 consecutive scoreless innings. Amazing.
It is never easy with this ball club, amazing that they keep winning games though. Never thought I would say this again this year but great job by the bullpen.
