I'm set up with slingbox, I have some issues with quality and reliabilty though, which has surprised me. I like the idea of having a backup option just in case. Besides with slingbox I can only get the games showing in NY. I'm used to having the Sunday ticket, the game pass seems like a nice alternative.
Let's see, so when I wake up to watch soccer, those afternoon in the UK games come on in the morning. So most NFL games will come around dinner time for you guys? Eeek, you probably picked the right franchise seeing how we never get any "prime time" games. Also, when the games come on SKY, do they use British announcers or ex-Pat Americans? What are their claimed expertise? For example, the soccer broadcasting in the US tends to be atrocious, ESPN usually will employ a play-by-play specialist and a brutal ex-national team player for an awkward and often ear-splitting combo (I often times will watch national team games on the spanish-broadcast channel.)
We get the original US commentary teams during the games, thank god! We have fewer commercial breaks so they use a studio team of football journalists to fill in the gaps. The host, a guy named Kevin Cadle, is so wooden he makes a tree look like it has a lively personality. The main colour guy, Nick Halling, knows his stuff but has an awful voice. After six hours in their company I'm usually ready to punch them. In fact, I usually start to record the game on Sky+ (a bit like Tivo) and then start watching after half an hour so I can fast-forward through the talking heads nonsense. This is just my opinion, some people love Cadle and Halling. These people are, without exception, related to them.
I would go for that in a heart beat. Would it really travel that far, excuse my naivity, as I know nothing about them. Thats what happened last season. I'm not really bothered , so long as I get to see. I also subscribe to Jets Radio and if it syns OK watch the game and listen to the radio , much better. But its not often they are in sync.
brooklyn beer ordered on line , delivery Sept 1st check sky sports ordered , check wife locked in cellar , check swearing at tv when something is fucked up by the jets , check We have blast off!
It would definitely reach that far, as that is what it is made for, to be able to watch your home cable from anywhere in the world. The trouble would be finding someone that is willing to buy a slingbox for you & set it up to an extra cable box. If you could find someone though, I'd highly recommend it. It seems to me though that if you only wanted it to watch the football games, the NFL gamepass serves the exact same purpose with better quality from what i saw from the demo and the same price.
I like Nick Halling, he knows his stuff and makes a lot of sense. But he is a bit biased towards his Steelers. As for Kevin Cadle, well he should have stuck to Basketball. The ex heach coach of the London Towers is so wooden it makes me laugh at him!! but thankfully Nick Halling puts him in his place quite a lot. The 3rd commentators they get in always have some good stuff to say are generally ex players so they make much more sense.
I seem to be one of the few who signed up for the fieldpass HD. The main advantage this year from previous years (apart from it being in HD obviously) is that you can watch previous games anytime. Not just only in the few days following the game.
I just love the way he opens with "10-nothing in our ball game" (or whatever the score is) EVERY SINGLE TIME they need to fill a break in play. He's a complete amateur and the amazing thing is Sky are obviously happy with him because he's back every year and apparently is never told to change his bizarre... three or fewer... words at... a time... delivery.
Sky = Narrow vision. Kevs Black ( so that fills THAT PC card) Hes American , so HE MUST KNOW what hes talking about. He gets paid per word ,which means hes really really cheap
Cadle is better than the blonde haired guy they wheel in on the thursday nights , american guy he resembles an extra off Falcon Crest!! Halling is great anyone who can have profound knowledge of ten pin, nfl and kayaking is okay with me!! Oh by the way forgot ref earlier list post drubkenly on ganggreen during game threads...check!
If I didn't think signatures were the worse thing ever invented then perhaps. http://www.wide-right.com/
Damn I need a sudden $200 windfall so I can get gamepass...and ukjetsfan I thought the Sky NFL coverage was pretty decent - Halling knows his stuff. Gus How do I get sky sports on sopcast???
Halling may know his stuff, but I'd still prefer to actually hear the American analysis at HT etc instead of him.
