"ESPN's Chris Mortensen has just reported (sort of) that the Dolphins might get rid of Ronnie Brown before this season begins.

I'm saying Mortensen sort of reported it because, frankly, he backed into the whole subject. The Monday Night Countdown show was doing one of its cheesey segments, this one called 'Sink or Swim,' in which the pundits were giving their opinion whether certain players would succeed or fail this year.

Mortensen was asked about Ricky Williams and while talking about how he would "swim," he went on to say that the Dolphins are so pleased with Williams he "would not be surprised if Ronnie Brown sinks," to the point where "he is playing with another team this season."

He would certainly be an improvement over anybody we have now I would think. Even if he is losing his job to Ricky Williams.

Miami is not going to release Ronnie Brown. That would be retarded. Trade, maybe, but they aren't releasing him.

Now that would be a stupid move. He?s one of the better RBs in Football, when healthy.

He was arguably the best last season before his injury. Particularly given the circumstances of the team he was on.

Ronnie Brown is terrible. They should cut him.

    No, I'm not being sarcastic.

A little late to get much for him in a trade at this point. Maybe a late rounder. Nothing more. That would have been different two months ago.

    maybe Brown hasn't fully recovered.

I still can't see the Dolphins outright releasing him though.

    You're retarded.

    No, I'm not being sarcastic.

There's no way a cut comes, and given the injury he's suffered and consistant word coming from camp that he's struggling coming back from said injury I'd be suprised if the Fins could get a 3rd for him right now. Ronnie was Rediculous last season before the injury - MVP style rediculous.

I understand Bill wanting to re mold the roster from the ground up, but Cutting Ronnie makes zero sense and I don't think it's possible to get his worth in trade - the market on RB's isn't what it once was. Just ask the handfull of guys without jobs...

I agree Brown was great last year, he nearly beat us by himself for crying out loud, I would love him in green and white, I would love for you to cut him, and us sign him and pup him until week 6 of the season...

There is no way they get a third. I'm not sure they would even get a 6th. The season starts in three weeks and he needs to learn an entirely new system assuming that he is healthy which probably isn't the case. They end up keeping him, cutting him or maybe getting a 7th just to keep him out of our division.

He´s a RB. Every Team that´s not using a Zoneconcept can plug him in and get him ready to play within a week or two. It´s not that much to pick up. And if his Injury is not a cocern down the stretch, i don´t see a reason, why they wouldn´t get a 3rd for him, especially if they wait till someonw goes down. Let´s say SD looses LT or Dallas looses Barber, they´d be glad to give up a 3rd for him.

@Namath, mind giving us some insight on what your opinion is based at?

There has to be a concern if 50 year old coked up Ricky Williams is running circles around him in camp, wouldn't you think?

That would be almost as dumb as trading 2 1st rd picks for Ricky Williams. Brown is still not 100% and though Ricky is outperforming him in TC you still cannot count on Ricky. If it was just about talent Ricky would be an all-time great but there's more to it than that which is why he has had an average career.

Ricky?s not too shabby if he really is close to the old Ricky, and maybe even found real comitment to Football. And Ronnie doesn?t seem to be 100% just yet. It?s also a mental challange, that can take some time, to bounce back after a long injury like he had.

Many RBs need some games to really trust the own body again after a Injury like he had.

Even if that were the case, why the hell would they just release him? He's a very talented back when healthy. The Patriots would pick him instantly if he hit the FA market.
