As much as I love My JETS and the GREAT city of New York, New York fans in general NOT just JETS fans are TERRIBLE.

The only fans worse than NY fans are Philly fans.

But I cannot say I agree with PK's assessment that Jets fans suck because they didn't show up for a Pre-Season game, even if it was for FAVRE.

I mean had it been a regular season game yea, but a preseason game, whatever.

Oh well, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I see King is still loving stirring the pot for no reason. It's a pre-season game! Hilarious.

What are the odds that after Favre's first home game during the regular season, in which the fans will all be out in force, King writes something to the contrary like, "Boy, those Jets fans were great! I couldn't even find a cup of coffee because there were so many fans!"

How this guy is still relevant I will never know.

i hope he does find that coffee and it burns the ever loving shit out of him. for a guy that lives in jersey he is incredibly against NY and highly toward NE.

Well there is no doubt that Jet fans suck, however it's not because they don't fill every seat at a pre-season game to watch "joe" the future UPS guy play at being a pro-football player. NFL team owners should be ashamed of themselves for making season ticket holders pay full price for the "Crap", that is pre-season football.

Who the hell cares what Peter King thinks? I care about what he thinks just as much as what the rest of the world thinks of this great and blessed United States. Which is to say, not at all. Oh, right. I almost forgot to tell him to bite me.

If I still had the option to NOT purchase them, I wouldn't. I like pre-season as a pre-cursor to getting pumped for the year, but I don't much like to be force fed my 'choices'. And who cares what the rest of the league forces their fans to do while I'm at it. I almost feel like I'm committing an infamina by NOT going. Being strong-armed into it or no, it isn't like I'm Rockefeller and have money to throw around (in theory) by staying home. It makes me feel like I'm throwing bread I earned in the garbage or something.

There were people wearing Jets' jerseys where I was sitting that were actually high-fiving each other when Chad got hurt saying "thank God, Chad's out", so I agree with you completely.

Do I think it was everyone cheering, of course not, since I wasn't one of them cheering. But I'm also not naive enough to think it was just the Pats' fans cheering him getting hurt either.

Just to set something straight about the purchase of Pre Season tickets. It was mandated by the NFL, that all teams charge for pre season tickets. The teams that did not, had a hard time finding a team to play them, because there would be a lack of revenue from ticket sales. Teams would not want to play because the TEAMS did not make money when only a fraction of the tickets sold. This way every team is on par with the next and makes no difference how many actually attend the game, the tickets are already sold.

Can those season ticket holders who opted not to attend the game at least give away the tickets instead of eating them?

We do suck as fans. Look at a BradwaySux posts and thats what I think 90% of sports fans in the area think like. Lots of negativity, little logic, and little to no actual depth and analysis beyond "ZOMG we won therefore we is good" or "ZOMG we lost, therefore we should fire everyone and rebuild...but we can't rebuild cause that takes too long and we don't have the patience so win now...but how can we win with this guy when we just lost with him etc." And the best is...we hide all this by saying "we expect the best from our teams." Nooooo shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit...so do 30+ other teams.

I am surprised beyond all belief that no tri-state area player hasn't flipped the fans the bird yet.

And yes...I do live in Jersey...yes, I actually do love it here...and yes, I realize that there are *many* great fans in the area. As a whole though? A bunch of spoiled brats.

Think about it this way...when ESPN is thinking of what to report...they're thinking "WTF does the tri-state area wanna hear tonight?" There's a reason for that...beyond the ratings...we buy that kind of garbage by the ton.

Jack McDowell did it to Yankees fans and they probably deserved it.

That was one of the biggest crowds at a preseason game.

I agree with the fact that pre-season is a rip-off, and it is a way for the owners to get more money. However, there are many Jets fans that would have still loved to have been there and cheer Brett on. I for one. Unfortunately I live in LA. Perhaps those fortunate season holders not interested in going could sell them at a discount to crazy fans like myself. Cheers

That is 100% accurate, if you want Raider tix you have to buy 3 other games from the Chargers/ticketmaster. Or you just come see me ;)

Now onto King..... how can anybody take this clown seriously anymore? After he wrote his Mangini = Rat story this guy lost the 10% of credibilty he was hanging onto in my book. He is a Patriot blowhard who will defend his friends and take shots at the Jets whenever he can.

Somebody should remind this fatass that 70 million people tuned into watch Michael Phelps break a 36 year old record. It is a good possibilty that a large percentage of those people were in the largest media market in the country. It was NBC's highest rating since Empty Nest in 1990.... 19 freaking 90. To give you perspective on how many people watched it you can take the ratings for Fox, ABC and CBS add them up and multiply them by 3 and NBC still beat them. I'm not saying that's the only reason but lets be honest I know where I was on Sat night.

I didn't even read the original post...I just ranted about how I hate how fans are in this are.

King can go suck a d. Thats complete and utter bullshit. Brett Favre threw 6 friggin passes in his "Jets debut." It's fuckin preseason. WTF did he want, a Super Bowl crowd?

We're bad fans for MANY reasons. This ain't one.

This is such BS. An entire thread of Jets fans bashing Jets fans. Bashing Jets fans makes most of those people into just what they're hating on... Do you have anything else better to do? I'm gonna bet 90% of the people posting in this thread weren't even at the game, and that also 90% weren't at the game where Chad got hurt.

I bet there were some fans that cheered when Chad got hurt. I know in my section most people started cheering when Clemens ran out onto the field, because we had hope he could turn things around. But whatever, the first any of us heard about "Fans cheering Chad got hurt" was ESPN later that night, and it took me totally by surprise. I also love the Gate D comments, that Gate D was a ONE TIME thing last year that never happened before... if people knew anything about going to a game, they'd know that's been happening for a long time. It wasn't some single event, that just proves the ignorance of most posts here.

Finally, I was also there for this preseason game, and the Stadium had a great turnout for the first quarter. Usually preseason games = EMPTY stadium. In comparison we had a great crowd, and the place went NUTS when Favre ran out, and erupted again when he scored that TD. It was a GREAT atmosphere, so all of you saying "Peter King is right", what BS is that? It was a great game, perfect day, amazing tailgate (for us anyways), and a TON of optimism in the crowd.

After last season this game was a welcome turn around. Last year we were all bitter depressed fans, Saturday night? That stadium was full of optimistic great New York Jets fans, so screw this thread. Everyone posting the negative crap here about Jets fans are hypocrites at best, and ruining what was a great preseason game for Jets fans.

    http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com...ittle-shts-have-no-respect-for-greatness.html

You Ungrateful Little Sh*ts Have No Respect For Greatness!

You may have heard that Peter King was in attendance for his man’s debut as a New York Jet, but did you know that the stadium itself was just half full (including the two seats occupied by King)?

"4. I think I don’t want to hear what great fans the Jets have. Not for a long time. That crowd Saturday night was a disgrace. At least half the stadium was empty (Ed. Note: such a pessimist!) for Favre’s debut in a Jets’ uniform. I expressed my amazement to a few fellow scribes Saturday night — emphasizing that N.Y. traded for an all-time-great quarterback, not a broken-down one — and they gave varying reasons for the poor turnout. Like it’s the middle of vacation month for New Yorkers, and it’s a preseason game. Horsefeathers. If you really love your team, and you have season tickets, you should have been at that game unless you were in Tibet. Ridiculous."

I mean, what the fuck is wrong with you assholes? What does it take for you to recognize and appreciate the unbridled majesty of pre-season greatness?

For fuck’s sake, the man threw five passes and you missed it! I demand an explanation from you self-described “fans” of the Jets right this minute.

Steve from West Orange: Every August I take the family to Montauk for two weeks. You know, it helps us to reconnect after the summer and before the kids head back to school. Besides, it was just a preseason game, so I was happy to watch the first half on television.

BULLCOCK! That kind of attitude is what’s wrong with America today. You had a chance to take your family to see one of this nation’s greatest heroes take the field for ten minutes and instead you chose to spend that time on vacation? You sir, are an ungrateful little shit who does not deserve to attend a single regular season game. Your children would be better off laying raped and murdered in a Trenton alley than they would under your care.

    Ridiculous.

Dude seriously...on an individual level all sports fans are cool people...but as whole NY/NJ area fans are looked at as a pretty ignorant, obnoxious group.
