He was a second rounder. Those guys don't get paid anything. Maybe 500K. So cutting him does nothing for the cap.

Hes at $365,880. Cutting him would do nothing,

when Mangini decided to kick I said to myself "cool, we tie it up and Ratliff gets more exposure and gametime for practice win or lose." But unfortunately it did not work out that way. I blame special teams for that loss.

I truely doubt it at this point. Ainge is the man losing out in all this though. I highly doubt KC is getting cut anytime soon and Ratliff seems to hae cemented a spot.

With every passing day, it seems less and less likely that we'll ever see Kellen Clemens at QB for the New York Jets

Thank goodness- Ratliff seems like a far better option.

Hopefully they give Ratty some sets with the 1st team offense. It would be nice to see how he performs against a 1st team D

Ainge was drafted in the 5th round for 3 years down the road. I believe Tangini is shocked at how well the other "Brett" has played. It's possible they may try to hide Ainge on the practice squad roster. Otherwise we may have 5 QB's on the final roster if you count Smith.

    Pennington or Clemens???

SO now ppl are slowling jumping ship from Clements to Ratliff... AMAZING!
First he was a better qb than Chad and now he is worse than our #3 qb...
    Jet fans arggghhhh......

Hey atleast we have B&B Brett n Brett.

Well, Clemens was showing promise and we wanted new blood behind center before TC. Once camp began, Clemens has never progressed, but stalled. Even now, it seems he's declining. Ratliff has simply done a better job, and has not turned the ball over.

It sucks that Clemens isn't getting better, but standing still.

It'd be nice for the Jets to have a Tony Romo-like story.

I'd be shocked if Clemens is with the team next year. Lesson to be learned: run and shoot QBs from college are a huge gamble. Pro-style QBs for the win.

I agree. It seems Clemens had stalled at this point. Maybe he'll snapped out of it, maybe not. I'd definitely want to see Ratliff have more playing time with the first and second teams though before he's jetisoned into the #2 spot.

You are absolutely correct. Ratty looked good against the third string. Lets see what he does against the first string players. I hope he is all that he seems to be. I sense that KELLEN is a bit uncomfortable. I do not know why. TURNER is an OG that played CENTER and stepped on his foot twice last night! Then there were 4 dropped passes. Poor OL play also hurt him. No run game also hurt. Still RATTY looked smooth as silk. Time alone will tell.

Bottom line Farve goes down, who would you prefer under center. I know its early but the way Ratty is playing I think I would rather see him leading our offense down the field then watch the KC show again. Clemmens will officially remain #2 but i think we see Ratty if god forbid Farve goes down.

I agree with your larger point, but to be fair, Ratliff played in the spread option at Utah.

2 good preseason outings and you're willing to turn the franchise over to the kid? Let's all have a tall glass of reality and come back tomorrow okay...
