Ratliff looks good.

I think it's a little early to say he's better than Clemens at this point. I mean, it was one pre-season game, though he did look good. We've yet to see Ainge, but from the reports I've read so far, he seems to be struggling in TC.

Why? Clemens still looks lost out there. It doesn't take much to be better than him at this point.

All the training camp reports praising Ratliffs play were confirmed today.

I agree, Clemens still looks lost. For a 3rd year player, it's definitely worrisome. With the Favre trade, the coaching staff obviously agrees. I'm sure we'll be drafting a QB in the next year or two.

We have a lot of potential in Ratliff, Ainge and possibly Clemens but I'm starting to worry about him a lot. Who knows maybe one of them steps up and becomes the next guy.

Ratliff looked really good but it was against the back ups... Nothing special really.

That's what I'm thinking. I'd like to see a little bit more out of him in the next few games before putting him ahead of Ainge for the roster spot.

    /Not a Clemens fan

Don't we go crazy like this for some scrub backup pretty much every year, and it almost never comes to fruition? lol

yeah first off like others have said, dominating the browns 3rd and 4th stringers isnt that hard, doesent mean that much.

second, the guy aint making the team no matter what he does, farve is starting, penningtons cut or traded, and theyre not cutting either clemens or ainge, so were not carrying 4 qbs, ratliff is just auditioning for other teams unless he signs practice squad which is stupid anyway. id rather have tory woodbury anyway lol

Clemens was losing the job in TC anyway. If not for money it would have been him cut over Pennington. I wouldn't be surprised to still see him cut before the season starts or by this time next year anyway.

    ^Thanks Don....

    Anyway,

Take these games with a grain of salt.

However, Ratliff only threw one truly bad pass and showed no mental mistakes in his first NFL game. That does say something. He showed great poise, timing and accuracy. I was pleased with his performance. I'd like to see more out of him against better secondaries though. The browns secondary is atrocious.

If Ratliff continues this growth, he could be on his way to something that I can be comfortable with behind center.

Shame we can't have 4 QBs on the team. I can't see Ratliff making it unless we get an injury.

If he continues to make a good showing in p.s. and tc, I'd be very disappointed if they let him go. Why bother playing or watching tc or pre-season if performance in those events doesnt count for anything?

I know it is pre-season, but Ratliff looked surprisingly good last night. He certainly outshined Clemens by a good margin I would say. Clemems still looked very shaky and uncomfortable while Ratliff seemed to be in control with good throws and good decisions.

I hope he makes the roster. If not, somebody will pick this kid up for sure. He will not stay under radar.

We still have to see what Ainge can do.

While Clemens still is the #2 guy by tenure and pedigree, I would be looking over my shoulder if I were him. He has to step up, IMO.

With Ratliff's performance, I think it seems obvious, Ainge is headed for the PS...

There is going to have to be consistency from week to week this preseason with Ratliff, but if he continues to play this way, then he absolutely deserves a roster spot.

Favre could be a very good mentor for all the qb's on the team, as he has been for Brunell, Hasslebeck and Aaron Brooks.

It would not be out of the question to carry 4 QBs. Especially since it is a possibility that Favre might not play next year.

Ainge may "accidentally" stub his toe right before the season starts and end up on the PUP list

I only caught the highlights, but he looked fantastic. I know it's still kinda eary in his development, but he certainly looks better than Ainge, and even better than Clemens, at least against second and third stringers. I'll be watching him closely.

Who knows, maybe he can develop to the point to be Favres successor. I don't think Clemens has it in him.
