Don't just participate in the poll, post your name in the thread. Thanks!

When the Jets fail to reach the Super Bowl this year, and they will, let's have a record of who loved this deal or who didn't. In that way 90% of the board won't come back saying I told you this deal was no good for the Jets. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but for these reasons I go on record as disliking this deal (I stole most of the second half of these from another poster whose name I can't recall, but gets the credit for those):

    1. Brett Favre is so great yet 29 other teams expressed zero interest in trading for him.

    2. Favre's own team didn't want him back.

    3. The Buccaneers, the only other team expressing any interest whatsoever in Favre, weren't willing to offer the same as the Jets.

    4. For the past five seasons Favre had one very good one, two mediocre, and two terrible.

    5. In his last six playoff appearances Favre is 2-4 throwing for seven TDs and 12 interceptions.

    6. In his last game as a Packer he looked old and cold and cost his team the game.

    7. He will be 39 years old during the comming season. At most he gives the Jets two good years.

    8. The Jets have essentially given up on Clemens, which means once Favre is gone they have nothing.

    9. I think we have just acquired a 38-year old QB the year after he decided to end his HoF career because his heart wasn't in it.

    10. He does not know the offensive system, which by most accounts is a fairly complex.

    11. He has not had the luxury of OTAs, minicamp, or the first few weeks of camp to learn the system and develop some chemistry with teammates/receivers. This leaves him with three weeks to play catch-up and be ready for the season. He is going to have to work harder than a rookie fighting to make the team to learn everthing he needs to.

    12. He is well known as a risk-taking gunslinger, a trait that I suspect will not be popular with the coaching staff who value discipline and smart decision making very highly.

    13. He will hate the NY press and as a result not be a happy camper once the honeymoon is over and the Jets lose their first game because of an interception.

    14. I think the Jets are far more likely to get the Favre of 2-3 years ago who looked shot than they are to get last year's Favre who, despite an amazing season, still couldn't get a team far better than the Jets to the Super Bowl.

    15. And last, but Favre from least, the guy is a absolute total self-centered asshole.

I am in favour of the trade because this year, for the first time I can remember, Jets games are going to be fun.

Guys, the main purpose of this thread is to provide a record of who favored the deal and who didn't. Please post your screen name and how you voted. I knew the guys who favored the deal weren't too bright!:rofl: Thanks.

If it doesn't work out, then are the Jets worse off then they were prior to the trade?

    No.

I stopped reading and you lost all credibillity of your argument after #1.

The teams that contacted Green Bay about Favre were teams that NEEDED A STARTING QB. Vikings, Bears, Jets, Bucs.... all teams with GIANT questionmarks at the QB position and adding Favre would result in him being the STARTING QB you idiot. Green Bay isn't going to trade him with in the division so scratch them right out of the equation. So you expected teams like the Pats, Indy, Dallas, Saints to bring Favre in? You my friend are a grade A MORON.

Absolutely. The veteran FAs they signed are one or two years older and they still don't know if they have a franchise QB. And he possibly pulls the same crap about retiring as he did with the Packers. With that said I don't want to get into another long discussion of the pros and cons of this deal.

I have made my view clear. I am rooting for the Jets of course, but counting the days until #4 is off the team.

    against
too many issues and never really bought into all the hype throughout his career anyway.
I am praying he proves me wrong and we have to give up a 1st rounder

I agree with all your points listed above. They are valid concerns. I wonder if Bretts heart will be in it. I wonder if he'll say "fuck it" 6 weeks into the season. I kn ow he'll cost us a game somewhere down the line this season. I also know he'll win a few games forus we wouldn't have won otherwise.

But I don't believe they are worse off then they were. The Jets didn't have a franchise guy prior to the trade. They didn't have a bona-fide starter on the roster. Now they do. That's how I see it.

Now for ppl like me who don't live anywhere near New York, we will probably get to watch 3-4 more games now that we have Favre, a.k.a. we love the trade hahaa.

Seriously tho, I think he will play 2 more seasons, and having him is our only realistic shot at winning the SB and the NFL is a WIN NOW league. The Jets made the right move, even if we don't win the SB. Atleast we tried, unlike the Broncos off-season, or teams like the Cardinals who don't do anything.

My bad. I forgot. Favre is so good that 29 other teams think they have a QB with a better chance of getting them to the Super Bowl.

Maybe the person creating the poll should have made the results public instead ...

We all know the real reason you're against the trade is because you don't like Favre as a person. That's fine, just be straight forward with your reasons.

I voted no. I think that the Jets are heading in the right direction already, but now have overinflated expectation to deal with. I thought Pennington could manage this team. Run first etc... Good D.

I don't think Favre physically or mentally will lift this team above my previous expectations (8 to 10 wins).

    I've been wrong before......

    Simple as that.

Umm... I think he accounted for all of them. 1- Packers, 2-Bucs, 3, Jets, that leaves 29.

Of course I don't agree with the statement at all! If the Vikings or Bears had been given the opportunity, they surely would have gone after him.

I voted against it, were essentially giving a big F U to Chad and Kellen, and while we may win a few more games next year, i don't think this move is gonna lead us to the SB. Gotta think long run here fellas but the terms were good, and im hoping it works out.

Worse case its a 4th rounder best case 1st rounder but Superbowl all for this trade.

Kellen is still young and now can learn from someone who is more similar to as a QB.
