Why? And I mean why would he be good for the Jets in 08? What if anything can you point to, given all the conditions that apply to him coming here, makes us a better offense... some questions: Do we have a downfield threat at reciever, like a jennings? (Stuckey to develop there maybe?) Will our ground game be strong enough with the improvement of the OL to take pressure off him and make teams respect the run, so we get some man coverage and not everybody sitting back in a cover 2 against us? (exact opposite of what we have to do with penny) Do we have a guy like driver or a antonio chatman, a real good possession guy (think we do in cotch AND coles) Will we be able to utilize Keller with him in there to max? (farve and franks were pretty much an end zone duo) Do we have an offensive coordinator that can work with him? Can taylor the offense to him? Has any history with a QB like him? Do we have similarities to GB's offense from last year, which was his first successful year in 3 years? Do we have what we think is a coaching staff, with a HC, OC and QBC that are all older than him, that can work with him? Can they coach a "legend"? Can we talk about some actual tangibles, and not just "he's bret farve... he's better than pennington..."?
hahah... actually though was just asking the board, because to me, this is the question, or where the debate lies. It's about now; this coming year, and actual football talk rather than a pissing contest about who likes the jets more.
haha yea that's why I have that damn calendar up from that game. It creates optimism in a twisted way. I figure things HAVE to get better this year, regardless of who's the QB. Plus the calendar pictures are priceless. July was a picture of someone's gloved hand on the sideline... August is now someone's scuffed up Jets helmet.
That was a weird game. In the first half, both offenses actually dominated the play, each went on a 10+ minute drive and each stalled for a FG. So after two drives it was 3-3 with about 5:00 left in the half. Then the second half just got ugly. Cold and ugly.
thank you green machine, too bad we can't have audio for the collective sighs that will undoubtely bestow this site in the next who knows when
Anyone just see that on NFL Network? Some guy told Favre "Tampa is a good spot, they play Green Bay week 6, you could have a shot at them." Then Favre said to him, "Week 4." Thats funny.
Merrell Hodge basically just said the Jets suck and would not even make the playoffs with Favre.
Favrah I agree whole heartedly with sanpetejets. There are so many important issues to WORRY about with favre, that supercede the argument, "he's better than what we have". From all reports, our offense is extremely complicated and takes some time to get used to. In our division, we don't have the time for that. Well, then you could say, "He's Favre, a hall of famer, he'll pick it up quickly". Favre is a big dumb animal, who has never been in an offense that wasn't tailored around him. He is a "gunslinger", and would not fit on this team. He would not pick the offense up, then spend the next few months complaining about it. That would be devastating to the chemistry we have already. Well, then you could say, "He's Favre, screw the offense". That is INSANE. The whole team has been learning this for months and now we'll start from scratch for some chucker? Also, this superstar vs team, change in philosophy sends a bad message to our team. Lastly, and the most important argument against him is this. Does everybody enjoy all these thousands of stories on ESPN, in all the newspapers about Favre, and Favre and green bay, and Favre takes a crap and the news is all over it? Well, next year, its going to be repeated all over again, but in NY. Is he going to retire, will he come back, Kellen named the starter, but wait Favre changed his mind. This behavior is sickening and he should go away. I'm sick of him and I dont' want him in NY.
I wouldn't put to much stock in anything Merril Hodge says: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPgcSwWnYrk
