Leon Johnson could have been so great. His injury got lost in the aftermath of Vinny going down the same day, but that was a killer for him and the Jets.
We lost so many guys, not just vinny and Leon Johnson. That season was a disaster and w/ it all if we had a better backup plan going into the season we still would have had a shot and easily would have been a playoff team.
The irony is we had Lucas the whole time, Parcells just didn't have enough confidence in him to run the show, otherwise we might have made it. We spent too many weeks waiting for Rick Mirer to get it and he never did. When Lucas did come in he got hurt and we wasted two more weeks with Mirer. Chrebet missing the first half of the season didn't help the offense, either. NFLN recently re-ran the first round playoff game between MIami and Seattle, then Jets had just beaten both handily, MIami twice, in the weeks leading up the the playoffs. We missed it by one game.
