Tampa would never release Garcia. If they got Favre he would probably be a backup sitting in Gruden's QB collection. Wishful thinking though.
Difference is that Favre is a major upgrade so the learning the offense part doesn't offset that. Garcia isn't a great QB.
Vitually anyone that started in the NFL last year, is an upgrade over our QB debacle in camp right now
The Jets probably wouldn't be better off with Garcia but that has to do more with him being a West Coast QB as opposed to his skill related to Pennington.
I am starting to regain my faith in Chads ability to work behind a solid line and advance us to the promise land. Screw Favre, and screw Garcia.
This after Garcia led Philly on that run, and then went to Tampa Bay, played in 13 games, producing 209/327 for 2440 yards, 13 TDs and 4 interceptions and went to the Pro Bowl as an Injury Replacement. And has thrown 23 TD's (6 INT's) in the last 21 games he's played. With him knowing the Buc's offense already, I would expect Gruden to start him in Week 1 even with Favre on the team. He'd be a big upgrade over either of our QB's at this point. But none of this will happen, Bucs won't release Garcia, and probably won't take Favre either.
I'm not sure TBH... but if Tampa cut a QB who had a great season with them, and got to the Pro Bowl (albeit an Injury Replacement), they'd be stupid. The Bucs were only mentioned for going after Favre because Gruden loves to collect QB's. There was never any talk of them replacing Garcia (as far as I know). Really a pointless scenario to discuss. Edit: And they would drop one of the other QB's on their roster before Garcia would be released. This wasn't meant to sound harsh, just too much Favre speculation
I hope Tampa does get him, then they will be forced to release Chris Simms. Simms is serviceable enough to beat out Clemens/Pennington.
I think if the Bucs get Farve chris simms is a goner.... so I would prefer Simms to Garcia anyways...
