I'm at work so no sound....what the hell happend? Maine had only given up 4 hits and a run why only 4 1/3?
Did they ever say what happened to Maine? I'm getting really sick of him. Muniz loses a shoe and stops running, so the Marlins get the leadoff man on. Brilliant.
He went 2-0 on Baker and Manuel/trainer came out and made Maine throw some warm up pitches. He was sulking and making faces the whole time of course. Then on the next pitch he gives up a HR to Baker and looked like crap getting Nolasco out so Manuel came out and got him. More sulking and eye rolling from Maine.
Hey imagine that, the strategy of giving a guy with a fucking .280 OBP a free pass to first base doesn't work.
And that's why you don't intentionally walk Jacobs. Did Manuel really think that it was that likely he'd hit a HR? If so, maybe Muniz shouldn't be pitching.
Let's not forget Schneider who's out to prove that he's as worthless in the field as he is at the plate. Maybe now that it's backfired they'll stop with the all the ridiculous IBB/pitcharounds we've been seeing lately.
......................................................... there's a lefty pitcher in the game instead of sending up a guy who's coming into the game anyway who destroys lhp we're putting up some faggot to bunt kill yourself manuel
Gary makes the obvious point about bringing in Castro now, and Keith dismisses it because "Endy is a good hitter." Endy flies out to end the inning.
I'm not ready to go that far (yet), but I was about to post that this was certainly as bad a use of players as I can recall seeing. It is possible that Castro could only come up now with 2 outs and no one on in the 9th and the Mets potentially losing the game, rather than hitting with a man on base against a lefthanded pitcher. Amazing.
Hopefully Church after taking BP today is close to returning so we can put Endy back on the bench where he belongs.
It's not just that one awful inning. He does stuff like that all the time. Willie never hit and ran which I liked. He didn't sacrifice as much as Manuel does. He didn't hand out IBB's like they were candy. Look at the idiocy of the bottom of the 6th for example. Instead of just bringing in Feliciano to pitch to Jacobs he somehow thinks it's a better idea to walk Jacobs and let Muniz pitch to Ross. So then he ends up bringing in Feliciano anyway just to pitch to 1 batter again. About the only thing to like from Manuel as opposed to Willie is that he's not afraid to "embarass" his guys, like pulling Schneider after that joke of a passed ball. Of course he squandered any good will from that move immediately.
