Everyone in the lineup got a hit as they score a month's worth of runs for Santana

Up 9-1 in the 9th inning, the Mets have a chance to win this game.

Santana goes 9! Much needed day off for the bullpen. To bad he didn't do that Tuesday.

Unfortunately missed the nice game, as the cable on my block was out from about 1 - 4 PM. I listened to the game on my transistor radio - it was all very retro.

Marlins blow a 5-0 lead and lose 9-6. Mets lead them by 2 going in to the series tomorrow.

Braves have blown a 5-0 lead (after blowing a 9-3 lead yesterday) and Phils lead 6-5.

just got back from the game, nice win but a few thoughts:

letting santana pitch the 9th today when there was absolutely no reason to only makes manuel's decision and statements after the game seem even worse. i suppose this could indicate a willingness to change when he's proven wrong or just a guy giving into the macho bullshit of fans demanding CG's from Johan every time out.

luis aguayo is the most dangerous man on the field. he escaped disaster early when he sent chavez on another suicide mission and luckily the catcher dropped the ball(admittedly chavez got a horrible read/break on the ball). then he inexplicably holds up reyes trying to score on a single, when he was about 2 strides behind Santana going around third base. this guy is a moron who to my eye has never made the right call and if not fired then he should be as far away from the 3b coaching box as possible.

Obviously you could not hear Jerry Manuel's post game conference since you were at the game. Manuel said Santana came up to him and told him not to even think about taking him out of the game - that this was Santana's game and he wanted to give the bullpen complete rest.

Is that all it takes? Maybe Castro should start telling Manuel everyday to not even think about starting Brian Schneider.

agree on all points. I wanted Santana to stay in the game last week, not today.

Aguayo is just straight stupid. He was easily going to be out. It wasn't even a close play. He lucked out when Molina couldn't handle a fairly accurate throw from Ludwick. If this was the first time, ok maybe he gets a pass. Maybe he was hallucinating. But he keeps doing it.

Reassign Aguayo to mopping up the clubhouse or something. Incompetent. You wouldn't think being a third base coach is that hard, but apparently it's hard for Aguayo.

oh yeah, and the Braves won 12-10. Nice to see both pitching staffs take a beating, although I was watching and hoping the Braves would score in the 9th off Lidge.

oops, my bad. I mean the Phillies.

yeah, whoops. I meant Phillies. Don't know what I was thinking. I just watched the Braves lose, and I was pulling for them.

Had I been drinking something when I read that, it all would've went up in my nose.

Yeah I got a kick out of that too...... maybe he is on to something. Maybe Luis Aguayo (makes me think of Louie Agiur) keeps going up to Manuel and saying "I'm coaching 3rd base today, we need to keep Ken Oberkfell at 1st"
