If you'd take Vinny Testaverde over Brett Favre at any point in either of their careers, I don't think we can rationally discuss the issue together.

I'd take Favre now over Vinny's last year in Baltimore or '98. Every time, and twice on Sunday.

    Favre + NY = hoopla
    Favre vs. Brady = hot!
Favre vs. Miami (minus Zach and Jason) = fun
Favre + Jets = with the team that used to beat him like a bitch
Favre + Jets part 2 = Herm & Chad together in KC
    Favre + Jets part 3 = Danny Ainge's team in 2011

    OMFG

They've been more successful than the Jets over the same time period, and he has had some shitty teams around him.

That's exactly what I was saying....Thanks for making my point.

You really think he is going to have a season like last year in a new system?
IMO, people are enamored with the though of a QB with a Cannon.
Most people who jumped off the Chad wagon jumped on the Clemens one for this reason.

Now, we can get a QB with 1 of the greatest cannons in the world ...WOOHOO!!!
Let's jump off the Clemens and jump on the Favre!!!

An 80 yd bomb and a loss seems to be the formula that some JETS fans are content with.

Not me. Defense , a Running game and an efficient QB who can manage the offense.

What "future plans"? Clemens, after what he showed us last season, may very well be a bust!

The future is the future. I want to win now! Let's talk about the future, when the future comes :p

You mean the same two guys who decided to have a QB competition? This is all Woody.

    Mediocre?

Do you mean players like Donald Driver, Antonio Freeman, Sterling Sharpe....to name a few through the years.

Why do you keep saying that? He didn't do anything that horrible that wasn't attributed to a piss poor OL? Yeah that throw against the Pats that was returned for an INT should he have thrown it? No but the bottom line is that should have been called back for roughing the passer. It was a hit with clear intent to injure and the refs blew that call (Or the Pats)

He looked amazomg the 4th Q against the Ravens who even though they sucked their D was still pretty good. Remember a QB is only as good as his OL.... why do think fucko in NE refused to do commercials unless his OL was involved?

Should we talk about Clemens 1-2 TD-INT ratio or Penny's pick 6's?

Wow your Giants inferiorty complex is of an astounding degree. I never argued that Brett would not help us win, only that getting a player for media attention is about as dumb a move as there is. Its moronic to factor that into your thinking. Get Farve because he's a hell of a QB and who gives a shit about the Giants. This is not taking any of the shine off them winning a SB last year unless he wins us one this year.

You risk Clemens waiting another year or two to play and a draft pick for the potential reward of a superbowl. That's a risk well worth taking. Last I checked QB's tend to benifit from a few years on the bench.

I am glad someone else sees the reality.

Screw it, let's blow out the salary cap and go for it!

We are only Favre away from the super bowl!

Then reality hits, he struggles in the system, we realize last year he should have stayed retired. The Jets start rebuilding....AGAIN!

My guess is that the contract is going to be VERY heavily reliant on signing bonus money if something gets worked out.

If you want to know what Brett Favre will do on the Jets, all you have to look at is how this message board has lit up. Brett Favre is one of the best QBs ever. Having him on our team would be AMAZING!!! Getting him would be a once in a lifetime gift, and hopefully Jets management understands this and gives Green Bay what it needs to make this deal happen!!!

Don't think for a minute that Mr. Goodell isn't sitting in his office in Manhatten right now with a huge smile on his face (if not some other bodily reactions) just thinking about the marketing dream that would be created in two Favre versus Brady matchups this year.

Why do you care what the Jets pay for him? If they can afford it, they can afford it! Were you planning on adding some other huge contract this season?

Let's talk about the turnstile offensive line first.

I'm posting now just for that reason, so I can say I was there.

Not sure on the Favre thing though. I guess I'll wait and see how it plays out before committing judgement either way.
