Not to mention Gholston could be a monster and Rhodes is one of the best defensive playmakers in the game.

...Sorry to break it to you, but "the first day of camp" confirms nothing about anything, much less the overall strength of our entire defensive unit.

    Yes.

    Yes.

Brett Favre threw 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions last season.

For a chance at winning? In a fucking heartbeat. And if you're not, I hope you don't work in finance. Winning is about taking risks; not curling up in the fetal position every time an opportunity presents itself.

Curtis Martin came here in his 4th year, not his 18th. In their primes I'd take Vinny over Favre, I just think Favre is badly overrated. Great QB, he'd upgrade us if he comes, but we're not winning or even going to the Super Bowl just because of him. Green Bay hasn't gone back since Mike Holmgren left.

So you'd rather lose if it means the national media won't descend upon the Jets. Makes sense!

Again, you misunderstood what I wrote. I'll repeat, Penny is a high-priced back-up qb. Clemens just came off of the worst performance of a qb in the league. Brett Favre, a Hall of Fame qb just had one of his best seasons.

Getting Favre means winning. But yes, to my other point, it also means taking away from what the Giants won. I believe that's also important. Of course, NOT AS IMPORTANT AS WINNING, but yes, it's important. You may disagree. That's your right :p

Well, now we can go ahead and discount everything else you say. Thanks!

What does waste a year mean to you? Not winning the Super Bowl or what?

Because odds are, the Jets won't win a Super Bowl this year without Favre either.

This makes sense on so many levels. Let's just consider the fact that the Jets wear green, and so do the packers. So, given than Favre's skin type is an "autumn", he won't have to worry about adjusting his personal care routine to fit the Jets color scheme.

I mean, talk about a no brainer...

No... It confirmed that Jenkins is in shape and creating havoc, Pace is massive and fluid, Revis can blanket either Coles or Cotch, etc. The central theme I got out of all the reports yesterday was that the defense already has a swagger.

Everyone thinks Favre means instant success.

I just don't see it. He does throw alot of picks....

Here we are, training camp started, and you want to shift gears and take a chance on a guy who does not even know the system?

At risk of screwing up future plans? No thanks.

This has a chance to become the biggest thread in the history of the board.

The only thing I could imagine would be bigger was if "Tom Brady comes out and says the Pats cheating helped him go from 3 years and out of the league QB to HOF QB"

This needs to be emphasized again and a-fucking-gain. It is absolutely absurd that there is even a debate happening right now.

favre had made some mediocre receivers look really good. i'd imagine our wrs would look amazing with him at the helm. the thing is, the bucs make much more sense for him right now. the nfc is a much easier league to make the playoffs and the nfc south doesn't have the patriots in their division. that said, if favre comes here, he's starting. we'd cut penny or trade him for a 6th rounder somewhere... maybe the bears or bucs. the question is what do we have to give up? my sense is we'll offer a 4th, they'll ask for a 2nd and we'll compromise at a 3rd. good trade, imo.

In their primes, Vinny Testaverde had nothing on Brett Favre.

Favre is a proven winner. He would bring a winning attitude, and excellent leadership to a team that needs those things.

I'm not saying Favre will be the only reason the Jets will make the playoffs, but he will light a fire under every player on the team just by being in the locker room. He's one of the few guys that has that ability.

There are more issues with just the media circus.

He is old and getting older. It would be a stopgap solution at best. Plus the cap hit for his huge salary.

He is not going to play for the league minimum.
