Where do you get 5 years?...it is either a 4 or 6 according to multiple sources posted in this very thread.

From post above explaning contract in detail

"According to the numbers, he?ll be getting much more in every facet than Marshawn Lynch, the twelfth pick, who got a heck of a deal with Buffalo. According to your numbers, he?ll be getting $11 million guaranteed on a four year deal versus $10.285 million for Lynch on a five year. And if the Jets buy back years five and six he?ll get a total of $27 million guaranteed? No way it can be true. Maybe I?m wrong, but I doubt it. If your numbers are right, [G.M.] Mike Tannenbaum should be fired on the spot.? [REVIS NUMBERS ARE REAL, AND THEY'RE SPECTACULAR"

Eyes of the beholder I guess. Lynch , who was selected 2 slots before Revis, signed a 5 year deal cheaper then Revis's 4, which is what the deal really is, with expensive options.

IMO what the Jets should have done, was give him the 5 then redid the deal if he turned out to be a star, which it looks like he will be. They will have to redo this deal after four anyhow. The one positive about it is, they won't have to franchise him for 6 years if things don't go well in contract talks.

Still I'm glad he is a Jet, just think the FO got to cute on this one

The contract sounds nice, but if he turns out to be a very good to great corner he'll most likely hold-out for more money.

Practically speaking its 5 years. Revis looks like a keeper, so, at this point, they will buyback the 5th year. However, due to a cap number in excess of $10mm it is highly unlikely that they would buyback the 6th year.

The sixth year was a little cosmetic for Jets since they were so adamant about it. However, they did get the upside of making it a palatable four-year deal if he was a bust.

I think $11 mil for a shut down corner in 2012 is going to be a steal. I mean, we paid Ty Law $10 mil a few years ago, and he wasn't even as good that year as Revis is now or going to be.

I think it makes sense and it will pay off in the long run.

I know there's a "trickle down" effect and agents don't want their guys to sign until they see what the guy drafted before them got. But damn, it too close to TC to have so many unsigned 1st rounders. You have to wonder (I'm trying to be serious) if the agents are actually working for the best interest of their clients.

It is absolutely extraordinary how dumb some of you are. You could figure this out with Google, five seconds, and a semi-functional brain.

At least you all seem to have five seconds.

Once Chris Long gets signed Gholston will easily follow. Thats the guide the FO wants to use. If Long holds out, which is very slim, Gholston may take a little longer to get in to camp. He might miss one week tops, which isn't that big of a deal. If he misses what Revis did, then there will be problems.

Not necessarily...when the Yankees signing Sexon was posted here on TGG, I did an internet search...and it still didn't turn up. The poster had seen it on TV. Granted that a lot of people here are lazy, but info is not always readily available on the internetz right away.

Did the Jets have a rookies only OTA a little while after the draft? If not, its probably not a big deal that Gholsten and Keller haven't signed yet. It just sounds like the Jets have their rookie only deal right before camp rather than right after the draft like some other teams.
