In a way I'm kind of with Nuu in that I don't like getting jerseys of individual players, mostly because they come and go and I'm really more about the team. For the Devils and Dodgers it's easy, I have the team jersey with no name on the back. I'm not one of these guys who puts his own name and number, I just leave it blank, I don't care.

But for football the whole jersey is the number and name, so you almost have to get someone if you buy a jersey. I was a WR and my whole life I've had Jet WR jerseys--Walker, Toon, Keyshawn and Chrebet. I'm still going to games wearing the Keyshawn and Chrebet ones because I haven't bought a new one in a while. I guess Coles would be the logical next one but who knows how long he's going to be here. Plus he left the team which irked me. Keyshawn was traded after I already had his jersey and he didn't want to go, so I let that one slide. So I'm in need of some new Jets gear but not sure where to go with it.

On a side note, I also find it funny when you see a guy wearing a jersey not fit for his body type. Last year at one game I saw a 300 lb guy in a Santana Moss jersey. They shouldn't even make those that size.

So does that mean that I (5'10" 172lbs.) should avoid a Jenkins or Mangold? Is the size issue an unwritten law on jersey wearing?

There are no rules, but in extreme cases you can look silly with a mismatched jersey. It just depends on how silly you want to look or if you care. Jumbo Moss obviously doesn't care.

I got my Rhodes from NFL.com about a year ago. Something I've decided recently on with jerseys is to try and find obscure ones from the past that people won't generally have. That way even if the player is long gone, it'll still impress my fellow Jet fans.

Right now I have 4 old style Jets jerseys and 4 of their new style. I was thinking about adding a Gholston jersey, but the last rookie jersey I got before they played was Dewayne, and that didn't turn out so well. I'll post a picture of my Old styles a little later.

Well, you brought this upon yourself Mr. Ivy. The poster made an honest post about which jersey he should buy. You then proceed to take your wisdom to a message board and flame out people for wearing jerseys. I am 25 years old and choose to get a jersey every year. You know why? Because it is my life and I enjoy wearing them. That does not make me fat or gay. To use your wisdom on a message board to flame other people is very childish if you ask me.

But what do I know I am just a 25 year old kid who doesnt have an Ivy league background. But what I do know is that at 25 I have the privilege of working for sports television. So while you use your Ivy league background to watch Jets games either from the seats or at home. I will be on the sidelines running a camera and in the locker rooms enjoying my job. The best part is I didn't have to go to an Ivy league school, to realize your a dick. Your wife must not realize how lucky she is to be marrying such a well educated and successful prick. Oh yea for your information I will still make more money then you in your lifetime.

    Youth?

Wow, again, I really was put in my place. Thanks camera boy.

I'm not going to get into specifics about how flawed and assumption-laden your poorly constructed arguments are. I will, however, say that the day a camera operator earns more money over a lifetime than a partner at a mulitnational law firm does will be the same day Chad Pennington throws the ball from goal line to goal line. Good luck catching up, I've got a really big head start...and I'm only five years older than you.

    Cheers.
