The Bills are going to be terrible. They won the close games last year. It's unlikely they strike gold 2 years in a row. The Jets scored more points last year and had the same points against.

I think Buffalo is better than most people give them credit for. In the offseason they got DT Marcus Stroud + OLB Kawika Mitchell & didnt lose anyone of value to free agency. Posluszny was out all last year injured, but back this year. Their draft was OK/good. Their O-line is good. They may not win the AFC, but they are improved compared with last year.

Yeah the Bills are going to be tough, but we usually split the season with them anyways though.

They are like us in a way - they have a lot of pieces in place. It will come down to the QB and CS.

I still think we have the better team, only because we are younger and they have more injury prone players.

Weren't the Bills 8-8 with 4 wins against the horrible Jets and Dolphins last year?

EDIT: I just checked, they were actually worse at 7-9.

It seems like everyone wants to guarantee something in sports now. Save it for the superstars in the big games because it doesn't mean shit any other time. Guys like Donte Whitner should just STFU and play.

Kitna's prediction was just plain "comical"..because it's the lions....but Whitner should shut his cakehole....I hope the Jets post this on their locker room bulletin board...i'd love to see T.Edwards pay the price for Whitner's guarantee.

not a fan of stupid guarantees. Add another to the list. Do they have a shot? Sure. Better than 35% I say no.

If Whitner was guaranteeing that the Bills would be the 2nd best team in the AFC East then he'd be on somewhat solid ground. For any player in the AFC East to guarantee the playoffs if they are not Patriots is just stupid. The AFC East has 3 of the 6 worst teams in the conference in it going into next season and it's going to be an upset if the Jets, Bills or Dolphins makes the post-season.

The 4 excellent teams in the the AFC: Patriots, Steelers, Colts, Chargers.
The 6 teams from whom the other 2 playoff teams will come: Jaguars, Titans, Browns, Bengals, Texans, Broncos
The 6 teams sitting on the sidelines again: Jets, Chiefs, Bills, Dolphins, Raiders, Ravens

based on last season's results....its easy to assume it would be the same this year, but Im thinking that the Jets, Chiefs will emerge from that list, and will take the place of the Titans and Bengals.

Being a JETS fan, I would have to say that the Bills can be the surprise team for this upcoming football season. This year, Trent Edwards is clearly the guy at QB and if he plays like the guy, the Bills can contend for a wild card spot. I liked their draft selections of WR James Hardy, who I think the JETS should have drafted, who will complement Lee Evans great and will be a red zone threat and DE Chris Ellis. They have a good young secondary and offense, their special teams are special, and they improved their O-Line and D-Line tremendously the past two years. Playing the Bills two times a year and pretty much always struggling at Ralph Wilson Stadium, I won't be surprised at all if they make it to the playoffs this year or just miss it. They are a young team and they have a lot of talent and will be contenders sooner rather than later.

Well the Jets have a better chance than the Chiefs in my opinion but I'd lay money on the Titans and the Bengals staying in the competitive bracket over either of the others re-emerging to it.

I think Kansas City is likely to be a league laughingstock from next season forward until they get rid of Peterson and Edwards.

It seems like the past 5-6 years many in the media annoint the Bills as an on-the-rise team, always with the same result. Whitner's comments seem more of the same. 2nd place in the South (Indy or Jax), 2nd in North (Pitt, Cle.) to me seem to have a much better case than the Bills on paper. At this juncture I like Tenn. and NYJ over Buffalo as well.

  18. Yeah the Chiefs are getting alot of positive press b/c of a very popular draft class. It's kind of reminiscent to some of the vintage Cardinals and Seahawks instances of the mid to late 90's when they had very popular draft classes and were predicted to be a surprise team...only to be their usual 4-12 selves. Problem was everybody forgot about how BAD their roster was before they added the popular draft choices who STILL were inexperienced crapshoots.

Make no mistake about it....the chiefs are still a bad BAD team..and i'm not no sure Edwards is the coach to rebuild them. Say what you will about the jets..but they have at least 2 years or franchise progress on KC.

    Hey guys,

I'm new here and I'm a Bills fan that's been living in New Jersey for the past couple of years so I've started to pay more attention to the Jets. I'm not here to troll, but talk football.

Anyways, Whitner's guarantee was a little suprising, but didn't come across as cocky. He knew what he was doing and said it to put pressure on himself and the team to do well this year. He's become a team leader in only two years out of college and its more of a challenge to the rest of the Bills.

There is alot of confidence about this Bills team making the playoffs. They were 7-9 last year and had to deal with an inordinate amount of injuries (17 players on the IR) and a rookie QB cutting his teeth.

Everyone is healthy again and they've made some moves that will only help like Kawika Mitchell, Stroud, Spencer Johnson, plus they get Paul Posluszny back and they drafted Leodis McKelvin and James Hardy.

Someone pointed out that the Bills won a few games by only a couple of points, and that's true, but they also lost two games in the last second. They could have just as easily been 9-7 last year as well.

It also helps the Bills that they have a very easy schedule this year, one of the easiest they've had in years, alot like Cleveland's last year and the Jets from the year before. So they have alot of things going in their favor right now.

The Bills were outscored by 102 pts last year. Anybody, including one of their players, who is predicting they'll make the playoffs next season is not looking at the facts.

To give you a comparison point: the Jets were only outscored by 87 points last year and they went 4-12.
