Tuesday, June 24: Darrell Rasner, RHP (4-4, 3.64) vs. Tom Gorzelanny, LHP (5-6, 6.59) Wednesday, June 25: Joba Chamberlain, RHP (1-2, 2.36) vs. Zach Duke, LHP (4-4, 3.91) Thursday, June 26: Mike Mussina, RHP (10-5, 3.93) vs. Paul Maholm (5-5, 4.41)
Well it figures Cano hits tonight... Least Joba and Andy go the next 2...Gotta win the series, losing the series to Cincy was bad enough.
It's really becoming too much now. No matter what sort of pitching performance, it's never good enough. They hit just poorly enough to lose. They score 5 runs on a night when their pitching sucks. When they get a gem though, they score 1 or 2. I know you are not one to point a finger at the manager, but Girardi, IMO, has to start taking some of the blame for this. There's no discipline at the plate. There's sloppiness on the field. They're simply playing poor baseball overall. Now I know these are grown men getting paid a lot of money to do their jobs, but wtf? It's not like these guys aren't talented. They just continue to play down to their competition. It's truly just sickening. This team deserves to miss the playoffs this year.
*inserts face into plam* Meanwhile, Matsui is limited to only pinch hitting duty while we're in Pittsburgh. This team is too old to remain consistently healthy. No wonder they can't hit as a team. No one is ever in the lineup long enough to get consistent.
Darrell Rasner is 1-5 with a 6.00 ERA in his last six starts.... if Kennedy's rehab goes well I think we know who he'll be replacing if Rasner keeps this up
How sad is it that just a few weeks ago we were saying the same thing, in reverse. Girardi was right last night, they stink.
Wow, that was some awesomely terrible coaching by the Bucs' third base coach. Sending a catcher coming from second home against Abreu?
Srsly. WoW. But as great as he is, the story to me is still this wildly inconsistent lineup. One day they score none, the next day a dozen. If this team can ever get everyone healthy and playing to their potential, they'd be an honest playoff team.
In the "Make 10P10 breathe a sigh of relief" department: It just scrolled on the bottom of the screen during the Yankees' postgame that the Mets have claimed Andy Phillips off waivers. Personally, I'd still take him over Betemit.
