All of the above...use him all over the field to create mismatches.

He will have to learn to block, but that's really the only time we can put better then him on the field for TE - if we need to run somebody's ass over.

Have him line up everywhere...TE, WR, Slot WR, FB.

Again, I truly hate to be the bearer of bad news but this guy is a rookie. If he can get 30-40 catches that would be a great season for him.

Hardly any rookie WR's (and lets not beat around the bush this is what he is going to be, more so than a true TE) can come into the league and be anything other than mediocre in their first season. Other than QB, WR's is the most difficult position for a young player to excel.

Too many fans have this bloated expectation for him. Sadly when he most likely does not meet them the word bust is going to be used pretty liberally. I just wish people here would manage their expectations this year with him.

To answer the original question, the Jets should use him as a 3-4 or 5th option so they can bring him along gradually and he can really get a handle on the NFL. They certainly should not move him all over the freaking place, not this year at least. History proves rookie players get way too confused to be used in this fashion. Only caveat being if he is that one in 1000 player like Boldin, that can come in and excel right away. Then move him around all over the place.

I think this kid is going to shock the hell out of the opposition (at least for the first few games). Use him everywhere.

What you should do is take a look at how he was used by his college coaches at Purdue, and figure that that Portfolio of options will be the maximum flexibility the CS will expect of him in terms of the NYJs offense.

The primary difference will be the speed of the game and the quality of the opposition -- they're ain't going to be many if any bad ones out there.

If he's a player it could be that Keller will get more catches than misses.

Getting open for rookies though is always an adventure. Just ask Brad.

Thats it, once teams 'know' him his work will really be cut out. Same thing happened with Colston, but with Colston he was a relative unknown.
I'm curious to see if they do actually use him as a conventional TE at all, my feeling is that he will line up in the slot and may be used in blocking down field as well as making important D stretching catches.

Keller can give you so many options, especially with Schottinhimer as the offensive cordinator. I can see the Jets giving teams so many looks with Washington, Keller, and Brad Smith especially if we can run the ball effectivly. The only thing that i worries me with Keller is if he isn't in the game there's a good chance that we are running the ball. I just can't wait til the season starts especially living in Texas it's going to be hard to watch the games.

he was not drafted to run one type of route. Keller will line up everywhere and be the mismatch for defenses. Wherever there is a safety in coverage, or a linebacker covering a zone - its Keller's job to exploit it.

How much he will be used depends on the Baker situation, if we keep baker then he will come in at the TE spot occasionally but mainly be used from the slot. He won't be amazing this year but he has the talent to do good things in this league.

I think he will be primarily used as a blocker in goal line situations, and he will also get bagels for the morning meetings.

yes the Jets obviously want him to be versatile, maybe we can have him be an in game broadcaster or he can dance with the flight team

Personally, I think he's going to rotate in with Jenkins at NT. It's obvious with his athleticism that at the snap he'll just be able to leap over the opposing line and sack the QB in a single bound.
