I was at that game too, it was a 60 yard punt return TD, the crowd went nuts, everyone was chanting Loooouuuuuuuu!!!! I liked Piccone so much that I peeled part of the 8 on my Rich Caster jersey to make it look like #89...
Haha, that's great. On NFLN recently they were doing a piece on those bad Bucs and showed clips from that game.
Joe Willie and Richard Todd shared that game at QB, a very sad moment at Shea....the beginning of the downward spiral!
Didn't they share most of that season? I was 9 but I've read about it--Lou Holtz wanted Namath between the 20s and Todd to run the veer offense in the red zone, something like that. I remember them going in and out and the crowd roar when Joe came back in. That game was one of the few bright spots of that season, one of three wins.
Future star--that didn't exactly work out, did it? Good find. Got him from the LA Express of the USFL--another guy who returned kicks well, forgot about him.
Kevin Swayne(His only NFL TD but not his biggest catch as a Jet, do you know what his biggest catch was?) Blake Spence- He'd be a beloved NY Jet if they had held on in Denver. This pic is a little tricky, try to name the game. Mickey Shuler
Wild guess: regular season 2001 vs Cincinnati in a comeback win we needed for the playoffs? I remember him making a big catch along the sidelines late, I think. A little tricky? A 1998 home game, early season, that's all I've got. Ravens in Week 2?
The Titans/Jets have returned 20 kickoffs for scores. 3 Justin Miller Leon Washington 2 Leon Burton Bobby Humphery Chad Morton 1 Emerson Boozer Jonathan Carter Jerricho Cotchery Aaron Glenn Leon Johnson Burgess Owens JoJo Townsell Kevin Williams 16 punts returned for scores 4 Dick Christy 2 Santana Moss JoJo Townsell 1 Bill Baird Chris Farasopoulos Bruce Harper Michael Harper Leon Johnson Terance Mathis Lou Piccone Kirk Springs
People made a huge deal out of him leaving for the Redskins, too, when he really just had that one great game for us. That game ultamitely was a key factor in us winning the AFC East that year though, Vinny's only win for the season.
Swayne's biggest catch was against Oakland in '01 so you had the year right but were off by a few weeks. It was during the GW FG drive and on a 3rd and 10. The pic is from 1998 but there are some clues in the pic to let you know when it was from. This one is extremely difficult.
