good and bad...he let the leadoff batter on in 7 of the 8 innings he started....but he did get a slew o' ground balls

Then, to me, that's a better performance.

I made a big stink a while back about how he needed to not try to be such a strikeout pitcher. His talent lies in the ground ball. Stick with it. Strikeouts are nice for Cooperstown, but wins get you shiny rings.

.271 is not Jeter like. That is .045 less than his career average. He will turn it around I believe.

he hasnt been Jeter since he took that pitch off his hand. I suspect he is playing hurt. He should be around .300 by the end of the year, and again the Yankees will be in the playoffs, as usual.

Big game tonite for Rasner. If he can pull this one out, he may solidify himself in this rotation, even after Hughes returns.

That pitch messed him up, there's no question at this point. Interestingly, I don't think he's hurt at this point. He was for a couple weeks, but now it's just that he can't get his timing.

As for Rasner, he had better get some run support tonight. This is getting ridiculous. This lineup can't give anyone support except Pettitte, and he's the one guy who can't hold it.

Maybe we'll get some bats for him.

EDIT: The main part of that article is about Matt Kemp being available. Cashman should be all over that, although I think it's too bold of a move for him to make.

Thank goodness! It's about time. How about packaging him with Betemit? Hell, throw in Duncan for good measure!

I wonder why articles seem to like to dress up Tommy John surgery? Just say he had Tommy John surgery performed. That tells me without thinking that he probably throws harder today than he did two years ago.

He's actually yet to regain his velocity. His K rate is pretty low so far. Robertson's the closest to the majors of the three.

The only hitters though that he struggled against were Ellis, and Gonzalez. other that that he was effective.

And speaking of JB Cox, he was put on the 7 day DL retro-active to Sunday. Not sure the reason, probably arm fatigue since he hadn't pitched in a year.

Concerning the two other top relief prospects, they've been good again tonight:

    Robertson (AAA): 2 IP 0 ER 1 H 1 BB 4 K
Melancon (AA): 2 IP 0 ER 0 H 0 BB 1 K (he shouldn't be in AA at this point)

And Humberto Sanchez just threw BP the other day, should be getting into games as a reliever by the end of the month.

Is Carlos Gonzalez any good? I signed him to my fantasy team when he first got called up.
I didn't watch these games. Does he look like a good player?

Don't know how Giambi hit that one out, and I don't care. 1-0.

well, if Rasner pitches like that again, he might be assed out. I hope it was just a one time flop....ugly game tonite. Hopefully Pettitte does well tomorrow and the offense shows up. I really dont feel like having wasted 65 bucks on a shit performance.

Rasner must really hate pitching to Posada. He was great with Molina and Moeller, and before tonight it had been two years since he's thrown to Posada.

What happened? I watched the first two innings and Rasner was unhittable.
