Its about time someone said it. Yeah, the situation was sticky and not good press, but like you said .. having pete kendall on the team last year might have made a couple of games a little closer, we may have even ended up with a 6-10 record instead of 4-12. But then, would we probably wouldn't have Vernon Ghoulston and Keller on our team right now, and although there will be many other solid draft prospects, i'm psyched about those two. Also, as you said, I'm psyched to get our 4th rounder next year and forget all about Kendall in '07

Chris Baker is not going to do himself a service by doing this. I like him as a player, but he is speculated to be one of the biggest "leaks" on the team, media-wise. I don't like that. If he stays on the team, he'd better shut up and I'd actually be pissed if they gave him any more money for this season, and if they trade him I'd like some good compensation....since we have the depth and some leverage. If he doesn't shut up, i'd be okay with them paying him his 600k to sit on the bench the whole year, or special teams bitch as another poster mentioned.

I love how Mangini doesn't give anything to the media, however, this is an unfortunate consequence of that. Any hint of conflict or any negative public comments made, the media is going to jump all over it. It's sad but true. The best thing the FO can do to quell the fire is to ignore it, and give their generic answers when journalists ask them about it.

I usually agree with you, but I can't seem to find that many a point where I can agree with you on this one:

    1. Drop-off was expected. It was more of a problem of "how many" and not "if." True, Kendall's departure couldn't have come in the more inopportune times, but Kendall couldn't have saved the six games if he had stayed with NYJ.

    2. Jets lucked out in season 1 with Mangini. Luck won't keep you in PO status for long though - the Jets were really devoid of talent, which they have restocked ever since. Or are you suggesting the Jets were play-off calibre team? (Yeah, right.)

    3. I see that from different reason. See below

    4. This one I agree - I still think Pennington is more than serviceable. His high ankle sprain, caused by the human turnstile called Clarke ruined the entire season.

    5. I have no faith in Clemens - maybe he DID progress, and that's exactly what we saw in 5 TD, 10 INT performance.

    6. I don't think this one can be blamed on Kendall departure

    7. Anthony Clement ring a bell? The OL collectively stunk up to the high heaven, and Kendall couldn't possibly have saved that OL all by himself.

    8. With all due respect, the OL coach that was with D'Brick the whole time is not Bill Muir - it's Tony Wise, who I was very - VERY - suspiscious with. I'm more than glad he is finally gone. I personally believe he's the one responsible for the lack of progress in Mangold and D'Brick. Oh, did I mention that Bill was gone by the time Pete was here?

And Chris Baker? He can take a hike. If I were Mangini, I would make him the team janitor or something.

That is funny, considering that is the exact feeling I garner when I read your post's on this issue. Crazy...

    Yet, you proceed.

Who's to say you're not the gullable one? I can flip the script on you and make the argument that you are feeding into the exact BS our FO is placing on certain players like, Baker. As if we have never been lied to as fans with this FO, right?

I understand you have your opinion. That is great, but how can you know where the "promises" that have been referenced are coming from? What proof do you have that these actions are not a legit concern for these players?

Baker continues to give multiple reasons on why he is being treated unfair. Tannenbaum is exactly that, a 3rd party, which doesn't excuse the fact that something has not been right going on these last couple seasons within this FO. Someone is clearly writing checks with their mouth that are not being fulfilled, and playing in to players who are willing to trust what their team is telling them. So far the FO has been very non-chalant about this entire situation, with meaningless quotes to pass the time.

Constant quotes about "Those conversations were a misunderstanding, we have different views on what was said." Ok, thanks for validating your stance with more BS, Tannenbaum. That really clears things up.

At what point did we discover what really has been said so far? How can you assume that these things really have not been told to, Baker?

I am not sure what has been said, all I know is it seems valid, only because this is not the first time a scenario has been played out like this with our FO. Baker has also been here for seven years, with lackluster money, so why is he chosing to complain now if there is no validation to his arguement?

    Did-O, Section 227. Did-O.

I have no problems with improving this team. I don't feel Baker is God's gift to the TE position in the least. If he was to be dealt/released on a basis of upgrade, I would be ok with that. I am not about this type of BS though and this to me is way more childish, naive, and immature with the FO, then these players could ever be.

I enjoy reading a lot of your posts, Section. I really do, and I respect your views on this issue as well. Again, this is my opinion, take it as that, we all have them.

Cutting him won't do. Trading him won't do either. Let him rot in the basement for two years. His towering value will have teams lining up after his contract expires. I can't wait to see that.

Seriously...this POS doesn't even deserve one thread, but I guess it's only fair. I fully support a major merge job...maybe I should start a thread with a poll to decide...:breakdance:

How can people keep claiming this is a recurring problem? Kendall did the same thing to us that he did to Arizona. The only reason we got Kendall in the first place was because he pulled the same shit in Arizona.

The only reason we got Coles back was because he pulled the same shit in Washington.

The fact that Baker has the same agent as Kendall is not a coincidence.

I'm just tired of hearing about Baker and his whining.....I say either trade him for a 5th or 6th or just drop him.

Funny how Baker ditches his agent and goes to Kendall's!!! The Jets should tell everyone that they will not deal with these agents again or any players on their books!
As for Baker, grow up and live in the real world. You're not that good and won't be missed if you go!

That's an interesting thought. I wonder if NFL teams are allowed to refuse to deal with a particular agent. My guess is no.

This dick hole is also Revis' agent. Gee, I wonder why he held out so long last year. I would be willing to bet that there's more to these contract dispute issues that keep popping up between this particular agent and the Jets than we know about. I don't care to speculate what they may be, but something stinks here.

So this agent knows how to get things done for his players? Is that so wrong? Someone has to look out for the right of these players, this is what agents are for. He has a hard nosed, no BS approach. He doesn't take things laying down.

When his players seek what they deserve, he goes out for them and achieves it. He only gets more heat then most agents because he is not just looking out for his players in the money department, he is showing he really cares for his players on other aspects of this game. He is willing to fight for their respect, rights, money, etc.. Good for him.

I'm not up on US law, being from the UK, but I know some of the biggest soccer teams in the UK refuse to deal with certain agents, and if a player wants to play for that team he has to change agent!
I for one don't believe that these contract disputes are all they seem!

My understanding is that teams could opt to refuse talks with players depending on who their agents are. This being as long as the player is not under contract with any specific team, like a free agent.

If you are already under contract, then it doesn't matter who your agent is, and negotiation must be dealt through them, if under contract.
