I fall into that category and voted Fins. The 90's was more then enough time to build a lifelong hatred of the Miami Dolphins.
Not really, I used to hate the fish the most but they have been a non factor ever since Marino retired, and we now pretty much own them. Where as the patsies have **CHEATED!!!** their way to domination, and have probably become the most hated team in all of sports, it's only natural for a JETS fan to hate the patsies the most at the moment. No where does it say that the most hated from 25 years ago has to be the most hated today.
The results on this poll shows the age groups. Most older fans say 40 and over would pick Miami 99% of the time and most the fans under 30 would pick the Patriots. Even with the Tuna in Miami I will never want the Phins to win unless it would help the Jets in the bigger playoff picture.
I picked the Pats, but it is really Belichick who I hate. 5 years ago it was the Fins. Also, Bills fans that come to Jets games are the worst...so annoying.
I agree with you 100% it wasn't this tough in the past. It was always the phins, hands down, but the tables have turned quite a bit, and now the Pats get the edge. The difference between the Yanks, and the Jets is there is only 1 real team for the Yanks to hate in there division, the others are viewed as whatever teams, but for the jets we have 2 teams in our division that we just can't stand. the phins because of history, and the Pats because of current events. And i personally feel the hatred the Jets have for Pats, and vice versa is going to last forever, just like the phins. The bills not so much, I mean we still don't like them, but not to the extent that we hate the Phins, and Pats. The Giants not so much either, because we are in different conferences, and you got to give it to them for doing what they did to the pats. Some giant fans could get under your skin though.
Pats! You know, when they started their super bowl run, I kinda liked them...at least respected what they did..............come from behind....come out of the tunnel as a TEAM and all that...but those bastards have become TOO COCKY over the years and it's time for someone like us to put em down.
Up until they started cheating in 2000 The Jets led the series 44-36. It wasn't until they started cheating that they started beating us on a regular basis. (This includes Titans games) I beilieve we still lead the series 49-48
Dolphins for sure. Living in S Florida since the 70's and remaining a Jets fan the entire time I've seen many variations of that team that I hate. I dislike the Pat's only because of their recent success and the current coach. Other than a fluke SB appearance in '86 they were a completely irrelevant franchise until Tuna arrived. Listening to the delusional Dolphin fans for over 30 years they're the leader in the clubhouse (forever)...
I hate them all equally, but I went with the Bills since I think they will be the Pats and Dolphins of our near future, like they were throughout the mid 80's to early 90's. You could say that I am anticipating the Hate. With the Dolphins 2-3 years from even getting close to simply sucking, and the Pats forced to play without knowing the other teams gameday playbook, gotta give the Bills as the team to beat and now my #1 ranking for most hated. PS: I have alot of family in the Buffalo area and I took alot of heat over the years. PSS: Thurman Thomas was the Dan Marino of running backs against us, often embarrasing the Jets D and Jim Kelly was a Jerk-hole. There, he deserved a new word he sucked so much.
I don't see where stating facts is whining. Did you have anything of consequence to add to the thread?
Dolphins vs. Patriots If it's not between these two teams (see above), then (IMHO) you are not a true Jets fan. No other teams have tortured us as much. One team won almost every division title from the early 1980s to the 1990s (with a draft choice--Marino--that we should have taken, G-Dammit!), who beat us time after time and then delivered that "fake spike" right through our hearts in a year we thought we might come back and win the season, for once. Instead, it led to one of the longest losing streaks I've ever seen in pro sports. The other team took our "coach apparent" (Belichek, who has to be the Darth Vader of coaching at this point), and won a few Super Bowls, and then was found guilty of cheating, and now has been found guilty of cheating over and over and over!. Meanwhile, I got to send my thanks to pimentel79, who pointed out how STUPID the earlier subject post (Jets/Fins fans)... No Jets fan can root for the 'Fins. That's just plain stupid. And this was, once again, an incomplete question. Instead, I would have posted this question to Jets fans (my apologies if it was already posted here, but then again, any further questions in this direction would be redundant): Would you have been happier if the Pariots won the Super Bowl, s we culd have wiped that smirk offf the faces off the 1972 Dolphins forever? Or were you happier that the Patriots lost the Super Bowl and thus failed to become the "greatest team of all time?" Me, I was kind of happy that the Dolphins "14-0" was tarnished at the same time the Pats perfect record was trashed. And as much as I do not like the Giants, it was kind of cool that a NY team kicked the Patriots' ass.
When I was growing up it was Marino and the Fish. When I was going to SUNY Buffalo, it was Kelly and the Jills. Now it's without a doubt the Pats.
