Listen I gave you defensive questions that say why you won't have a dominat defense. We can try it another way. Make your case, why you think Jets defense could be dominating. Lets see if you eventually come to same conclusion I did. Jets defense might be better but they are still fAR AWAY FROM HAVING A DOMINATING DEFENSE.
Who the hell are you? A Raiders fan talking shit??? Now I've seen it all. I have four people at my house laughing at your post. You not only have no idea what you're talking about, but you're a shitty poster. Have a nice day.
Because we don't have a madden like secondary and we aren't counting on overpaid maybes to dominate the line? Since the planet is analyzing our defense and saying that if it gels early in the season, it may wreak havoc- i'll trust their opinions since i have a similar one.... your biased, uninformed opinion gets an honorable... ugh
Jeaux has been making predictions only to have the reality come out the complete opposite every season.... thats just a fun little fact.
Jenkins will fill two holes and when the play gets stretched, Harris and Co will clean up the mess. As long as Big Jenks doesn't blow out a knee, he's going to be a difference maker. Would really feel better if Pouha comes on as a steady part of the NT rotation though.
Comeon you can do better than that in your analysis. Tell me what you have that makes you believe you might have a dominating defense. Im not going to let you get off the hook that easy. I know you can do better. Here is my case my Raiders defense could easy be top five. No team can match up better in coverage. NOt only do they have the best and deepest secondary, but they have alot of LBS that excel in coverage also. Thomas howard and K Morrison are two of the best coverage lbs in the game. (look how many interceptions both had last year) Case IN Point - Against Jets . Raiders have ability to take out all their weapons man to man. N Asomugha can handle J Cotchery . Deangelo Hall can take out L Coles. Michael Huff can take out Keller(won't even break a sweat as he controlerd the best Tes in the afc West) Thomas Howard can take out Leon Washington /Thomas Jones coming out of backfield. Where the Raiders really upgraded in the secondary is their tackling abilty. Gone are there shaky tacklers (schweigert/F Washington) and in are reliable tacklers(gibril Wilson, D Hall, T Branch etc). When its thirds and 6 and guyn catches a three yard pass, they are going to, make that open field tackle and make that team have to punt. Raiders have one of the top pass rushers the last three years iN Derrick Burgess. Yes they are looking for a Guy opposite Burgess. Raiders have alot of options. Whether its greg Spires, Kablimba Edwards, Trevor Scott 6'5 256 4.54 (situationak pass rusher) , Greyson Gunheim 6'5 265. Raiders Dline coach has developed some of the best speed rushers over the years. (Betrand Berry, R Hayward, D Burgess, Chris Clemons- got a big fat contract) Worse Case ON passing downs they use Thomas Howard as the situational pass rusher. He easily a 10 plus sack guy. Kelly , Gerard Warren, One of the other guysd mention perform pass rush on interior. You don't want to get into obvious passing downs with the raiders. Whenever you can make a team one dimentional on offense, it makes a DC job much easier. Now it all comes down to stopping the run. When you have confidence in your coverage ability it allows you do so much more. Bring more defenders in the box. Play diffrent schemes that make it alot tougher to run on. Alkso when you have versatility in secondary, yiou can come basically from anywhere aned not lose anything in coverage.
Jeaux is just unreal. He should be worrying about that piece of shit that Oakland will be putting on the field.
Jenkins won't be facftor against Raiders stretch and Cut blocking scheme. ONE Hes not going to last very long, as they are going to run him all alofg the Dline, and than cut him. AT 360 pounds how long you think he can go. The guards, The FBs, The TES will take care of those guys that are there to clean the mess. Also what Raiders would probably do is go to passes early to their RBs out of backfield. What LB to Jets have that can stay with Mcfadden(gholston, Barton, Pace or Harris) is a big mismatch in Raiders favorite. nThats more running designed to tire out the overweight Jenkins. Than when you get the Defense tired, you bring in the hammer- Micheal BUsh,
I had to take the bull by the horns, after you didn't want to . Again I did ask you to make a case why you think Jets could have a dominant defense next season. Lets hear why I shoud believe so and the poster who share your same viewpoint. Maybe its me,but I'm not seeing why you believe this.
The front 7 is well respected and feared.... When Jon Gruden, you know, the guy who built your last SB team, hugs Mangini for taking him out of the division- that shows respect. I have fans from other teams who look at the Jets front 7 and say to me "you guys are back on track, the front 7 is scary" I have Dolphin fans hating the fact that they have to play us twice a year even more, because of the ability to rush the QB. Secondary has one major hole, and a smaller one. CB #2, and Safety. Since you think that secondaries make defenses, this is such a huge concern to you.... enjoy the opinion. The Defense is not going to be a the bottom of the rung like last year. If you think that thats fine. But when the rest of the planet says otherwise, i'll belive them, since they agree with me.
Everything depends on the Jets pass rush IMHO. It's a little early to begin speculating about the season, but a couple fantasy experts have Gholston at 10 sacks next season. If he can do that, our other pass rushers can only get more opportunities. A good pass rush can cover up holes in the secondary like the Giants and Patriots have done in recent years. I'm not happy with Elam and Barret starting but if they only have to play it safe and capitalize on errors created by the pressure. The Jets still have Rhodes and Revis legit rising stars. On the inside, if Harris played the whole year he would have easily been the DROY. Harris will only get better playing in front of Jenkins instead of Robertson. If Jon Gruden is happy that he is off the Panthers, than I am happy he is on the Jets. If we can't generate a pass rush, we aren't going to the playoffs end of story. It will be interesting though. Jets could line up Bowens, Ellis, Thomas, Pace, Gholston, Harris, and Rhodes and have 7 players that can rush the passer in at the same time.
Jamarcus Russell can take out an entire chinese buffet in one sitting. Robert Gallery can take out the entire integrity of your offensive line just by showing up to the game. Javon Walker can take out his own ankle by tying his shoe.
Simple. We have a NT, and we have a good backup NT. Hell, I'd say we have one of the better NT backups in the league with Pouha. Our LB corps is big, versatile, and fast. We have two guys who played like Pro Bowlers in our secondary. One of those two guys is a top 3 safety. QED.
We don't respect your opinion, so why should we waste time trying to explain anything to you. You are (unintentionally) mildly amusing at times - be satisfied with that.
Front 7 is well respected and feared. Were talking the Jets right. Even if Jenkins was back to his probowl days(thats a Very big if) Your DES to be kind aren't exactly that impressive. S Ellis has seeen better days and K Coleman is average at Best.( there is a reason Jets were gashed against the run, and it wasn't just a lack of NT) I will admit DES in 3-4 are a dime a dozen, the most important position is the NT (that looks like you have covered) Even if Jenkins is not the player he once was ,he still going to clog the middle. You have no depth whatsoever on the DLIne(Big red flag) Now Lets look at out the LB corp C Pace(61/2 sacks best year is not going to get it done) and other half rotation B Thomas Eight(best year) is not that impressive of a rotation, rushing the passer. V Gholston will do wonders for the Jets pass rush. He could be special. Thats a pretty big addition. Only question is how will gholston hold up against the run and how will he hold up in coverage. Harris and Barton(declining) is a pretty good ILB duo. The depth again at this position is lacking. Another question is Pace, Gholston, Barton and Harris how will they hoid up as a group in coverage. Please stop trying to make C pace cover ability that of Adaluis thomas(thats laughable) This group can't hold up in coverage, and this defense falls like a house of cards. For example which LB going to be able to pick up a mCfadden coming out of the backfield. You really think having holes in secondary is not something to be very concern with. All Im going to say is see the 2001 titans. (i believe that was the year) They were the number 1 defense in 2000(off memory) There fron't four and front seven were nasty. That defense was gashed despite having some big time pass rushers. BIg reason was there secondary was so bad, that teams didn't need much time to find the WRs. A QB looks at the Wr, your second and third CB is copvering, and you can bet he knows where he going the majority of time. Remember good old TBUck and how teams always found him. Again you have no depth whatsover in the secondary. Now I ask you your counting on alot of unknowns, everyone of them to stay healthy and Sutton /Mangini who have never gotten the job done on defense.
I will give you Jenkins. At his worse he going to give you what you want. Pouha I think you overrated big time . Stop with that second half he loked very good. Your whole defense looked alot better than they were asnd alot of it was the gimmicks Jets employed on defense.(It was very effective because no one saw it- sorta like exotic blitz packages the year before0 Your LB is going to be tough to run on(there size off the corner going to be tough to run against) Question is one of those OLBS better be able to hold up in coverage. Teams are going to make sure one of them is matched up in coverage. One those olbs can't hold up and teams will unmerciful keep picking on that player. Until they have to change their defense alignment(bring in more dbs replacing one of the Lbs) Even if Revis turns out to be a shutdown CB( no one knows yet) why will tewams even go his way when you have two gaping holes at 2and 3 cb spot.
