Lose 3 out of 4 against the Nationals when the worst pitchers in the rotation went 14 innings only giving up 3 runs, you can't make this stuff up.

    what a disgusting 9th inning.

plus we couldn't take advantage of l-millz being slow to back up the throw.

a ridiculous catch and then the worst possible result from delgado

no way we can beat the Yankees. No one can hit and the worst luck, too.

Unless the Mets go on a run...like now, there aren't going to be too many tomorrows for Steamboat Willie.

you're right. I do hope the Yanks take 2 out of 3 though. I'd rather something drastic and depressing happen that instigates a change rather than this team just continue to sputter along at a pace that management obviously feels is acceptable.

well I obviously don't hope the Yanks sweep.......but if they do at least a sense of urgency may finally be present...and some moves will be made!

3-4 on a home stand against the Reds and Nats? are you effin kidding me

As much as I'd like to see Willie get the boot it's probably not going to happen during the season. Omar somehow sold the Wilpons on keeping him and we're "only" 40 games into the season. The last thing Omar wants is for Willie to get shitcanned because then he loses his shield and lightning rod for criticism and it's his head on the chopping block for the failures of this team.

Obviously the sooner that happens the better but I don't know if the Mets will make an in season manager move. Maybe they'll fire the hitting coach again.

that's the thing. it's a lose/lose situation for Omar. if the team plays like this the rest of the season, which they probably will, and he sticks with Willie throughout, he has to be held equally responsible and be fired as well. his only hope is to fire Willie and hope a new manager can turn these guys around for the rest of the year so he can argue he has done a good job assembling the team.

beltran getting nabbed off 3rd with one out was inexcusable.
he was halfway down the line, going on the swing almost.
you gotta wait til the ball clears the infield. 3b coach asleep too.

I don't know, I think after this offseason his fate is kinda tied to Willie's. From all reports he's the reason Willie wasn't canned in the offseason, how can he go in now and say Willie needs to go?

Would you guys rather see the Mets sweep the Yankees and Willie stays on the rest of the year, or the Yankees sweep the Mets and Willie is fired immediately?

By the way, we can't hit at all. I'm confident in Rasner, Wang, and Pettite, but we can't hit at all.

he has to go in, admit he made a mistake bringing Willie back, assert that the team he's assembled is capable of playing better under a better manager, and if that happens and the Mets turn it around he has grounds to argue he has done a good job assembling the team and should keep his job. that's his only choice, unless he is so devoted to being paired with Willie that he doesn't want to remain without him. something tells me Omar would rather keep his job.

but if he fires Willie and the team continues to stink, he was going to be fired anyway, so firing Willie and taking the chance with another Manager to turn it around is his only logical choice.
