'What ifs' allow you to reconsider an event and perhaps gain more of an understanding of its importance - or lack of it. The WWII example is an obvious one. Considering 'what if' helps us to understand just how important it was that Hitler was defeated. It's nothing to do with facing reality or not, it's just a way of gaining more perspective and is a useful analytical tool.
Actualy, an interesting point. Even though I want the Jets to get a SB trophy in the worst way, I would never want one by cheating. I am super glad BB is not here.
a little off topic but i think it merits being said to the original poster. and forgive me if someone already said it as i didnt read the whole thread before writing this. if that were us there would be alot more people on this board claiming to be jets fans that really had not been fans through the bad years. thats one of the tough things about being a real fan, when you do well all of a sudden people appear out of nowhere. i still do it to every patriots fan i see, andre tippett? craig james? john stephens? mosi tatupu? john hannah? most dont have any answers and their opinion is then moot. i CANT STAND fair weather fans, even for me own team. they just bother the hell out of me and i have to deal with them all the damn time here in ct, first it was the yankmees, then the patsies, now the redsux. at least i remember there being yankees fans around here back in the 80s cause i sure as hell dont remember any patriots fans or red sox fans, cause they didnt exist in ct back then. sorry, stepping down from soap box
hey thats why its the bangwagon. They'll only remember the Sportcenter highlights of what went on, with no recollection of the down years due to wearing a different hat, and once that team stops dominating - they go to the next team. Boston is now the more recent bandwagon city, NY is now second. I like that, since is eliminates the lower IQ tards that will root for said teams when they do well. They are the reasons why real fans look bad.
Belicek only made me hate the Pats more than the Fins. Personally I hate him for how he left, I dont really give a shit about the cheating part. I think we sucked so bad those years it wouldnt have mattered, cause we werent gonna win it. So if we arent winning the superbowl I dont care who does...Well now I do....anyone but the patsies
And the Jets wouldnt have drafted Brady because Im pretty sure that wasnt a BB selection. Without Brady, BB would be up in New England or down in New Jersey, with enough camera angles to cover the Winter Olympics and he still wouldnt have won a superbowl. Period. Those superbowls belong to Brady...not his original qb Bledsoe.
BBHistory Not withstanding the cheating scandal (although all 3 SB wins were won by a mere FG) what really gets under my skin is that even avid Jet fans do not grasp the gravity of what BB did. The reason the Jets gave the Pats 4 premium draft picks was not only to bring Parcels over, but after Parcels decided to step down BB w/b the HC. BB was under contract to this. The Jets paid BB extremely well as Assistant. The worst part of all was the late Jet owner Leon Hess paid BB a $1 million bonus....not to do what he did. BB then honored his memory by jilting the Jets anyway (and did not pay the money back). Then he built the Pats dynasty w/the Jet draft picks (the 4 I mentioned plus a first and a third form the CM RFA signing).
i still believe teams find a way to get an edge over an oponent. videotaping, injury reports, personal fouls or whatever means they use, they will do it. it would be too bad if players were hurt due to cheating but all in all it's sports and it's also a business.
