Cotchery is an upcoming star who would excel with an improved offense. With last year's pitiful team, he had 1100 yards in 15 games and was 4th in the NFL in YAC for the second year in a row.

I think this year it is a little more manageable but at the same time I think next year it is a must for the Jets to draft someone

you are kidding, right? Brad Smith getting better all the time? The guy would be solely on special teams for most teams.

I think you vastly underestimate how much of an immediate impact Keller will make in the passing game. If you look at any film on this guy, he makes unbelievable circus catches. If he could block he would have been a top 10 pick because he has the hands, route running ability, speed and size of a top 10 TE pick...it was the huge knock on his blocking or lack thereof that allowed him to drop to #30 where we picked him. This guy alone lined up on the line or as a flanker is a serious weapon. Add in Stuckey, Henry, B Smith as depth and we have a very solid WR corp. Dont underestimate Keller, he will be great.

    Our gain, Titans loss.

It's a relief to get back a positive roster spot.

and the sad case for cotchery is he's like the 3-4th option in red zone offense. cole's seem to get the the ball his way as first option or the bitching begins. i'd love jc to get 9 to 10 td's this season, he is our future and he always play to get the extra yard.

I don't think our WR issue is as serious as some will make it.

Cothery and Coles make a nice outside pair obviously. Keller, Baker, and Henry could/should/hopefully will solve our size problem.

3 of them are good YAC guys (Coles, Cotch, Keller)...and all of them can act as possession WRs...this team seems to be all about versatility right now and our receiving corps seems very flexible.

    Wr=????????????????????????????????????????

Yeah, yeah, by now most of you know I am a Tangini hater. So take my comments with your usual grain of salt.

But even the most fervent Tangini supporters have to admit they have done very little to improve the WR corp as long as they have been running the team. It's just one more reason the QB situation looks shaky going into 2008. Yes, it's comforting to know that they spent like $50 million replacing Pete Kendall (this was certainly the elephant in the room last year), and it's nice to know that they spent a lot on other positions that desperately needed filling...

But WR is a concern for any Jets fan who saw how injured Coles was last year. You gotta respect him as a football player, but as a person, you hope he quits the game before the concussions affect the quality of his life. I am glad tey rewarded him with a fat contract, he's a great player. But if he goes down? I shudder to think who Jets' QBs have to throw the ball to...

After Coles, there's not a lot to brag about.

True...Cotchery starting after getting 2 years of praise...Keller in the first...they've done nothing.

    That last line is laughable...

    Dude,

You must be thinking I really hate you or something. No, its not like that mate. But you have posted some seriously dumb stuff. I mean, do you know whose on the Jets roster? Do you know who J Cotch is? Maybe he was our leading WR last yr...maybe...

Our WR corps was upgraded the moment Justin McFuckmyhands was released. We have JCotch who's a good no.1 when needed. We added a catching TE in Dustin Keller. We added Brad Smith and Chansi Stuckey last couple yrs, they may not be as good though but still. We have added 3 WRs plus a catching TE in the 3 drafts in the TanGini era.

Baker has great hands no doubt about that and Frank should help him catch a few balls this yr too. Coles has alot of guts to go in the middle and take big hits. Thats the reason he is injury prone. Its pretty obvious if you take more hits, you are more likely to get hurt. He can play the healthy game but it wont help us much.

    Cocher

I know the players on the Jets roster.

But seriously, do you think Jericho Cotchery is all that?

We (I mean Jets fans) have been waiting a long time for this guy to emerge. Last year was supposed to be "his year." The year before that? "Cotchery's breakout year." I think he's a decent receiver but there's either a weakness in his game (i.e. He's unable to break away from the best coverage cornerbacks) or the Jets do not have a good QB on their roster.

I was as disappointed in Justin Cariens as anyone but "addition by subtraction" only works when you have a good player to replace the one you just lost.

    And that is... Who?

We took the first Receiver off the Board just 2 weeks ago, doesn?t that mean, they did a lot to improve the WR corpse?

And when you?re rebuilding a team WR should be one of the last spots you adress, imo.

And by the way, i see some great potential in what we already have. Stucky might turn out to be another Coles if he can stay healty, and Brad Smith reminds me a lot of Boldin, great YAC potential, his problem is, that he doesn?t get the ball that often, because he has some problems with route running and catching. But he?s still learning the position, and those things are Coachable.

I?m very relaxed of our Receiving-corps, i?m gonna just watch how this works out. Stucky, Henry, Smith and even Clowney and Wright might surprise us all next year. And we?ll also have to wait how they gonna use Keller, and what he can do while on the Field.

Reading this post makes me think you don't know who Cotchery is, and makes me wonder if you're actually a Pats troll who signed up right after Mangini was hired. I mean, probably not, but how can you say something like this: "We (I mean Jets fans) have been waiting a long time for this guy to emerge. " Where did that come from? Nobody expected much at all from the guy because Herm didn't let young players get any playing time if there was a vet who could take the reps. I saw the promise from this guy on 2 of the very few receiving plays he was allowed in '05. Cotchery's breakout year was '06 when he came out of nowhere as a receiving threat after getting no playing time the year before. And if you bash him for '07, then I have no use for your opinion. He's a #2 receiver, who unfortunately is playing across the field from another #2 receiver.

Don't ever compare this guy to J-Mac, because it makes you look like a total fool.

Well looks like we have half the fanbase who feels these young unproven guys are going to be a real asset to the team this year and the other half feel if something goes wrong with Coles or Cotch, this team has a bunch of unproven guys to turn to and pray they step in and make big plays in the passing game. I hope the young guys pan out as much as anyone, but I just think the Jets should try and sign atleast one vet to throw in the mix just incase Coles or Cotch go down, Robinson is out there, bring him in, I might start a riot here but Keyshawn has said he'd comeback? Now if he means only to be with the tuna in Miami then forget about him but if he'd return to where it all began for him then why not? Keyshawn could help this team.

i love Cotchery but in all seriousness, Cotchery on every team in the leauge (generally) would be a number 2 receiver. He posses 2 out of three physical traits for a wideout. He can catch and he is strong. Other than that there is no speed. Am I saying we need a Desean Jackson guy who is fast but is going to get crushed no. However we need a guy who is a good number one, strong, great hands, and speed. On this team there is not one guy to replace that, not coles, not smith, not stuckey, not Keller,

the best way to improve your passing game is to improve your running game and we have done that, Coles and Cotchery along with Keller are more than qualified to get the receptions and YAC we need to win. both Clemens and Chad can do well, but Clemens is IMHO a much better choice given our improved line he will be able to run the plays as called.
