Anybody else sick of the B/S press conferences or interviews or statements made in the press. I understand keeping certain facts close to the vest but come on give us something. They speak but don't say anything just the usual "I think he works hard" or "we like his potential" its all a load of Crap. As fans we/ I just would like a little insight to the real thoughts behind the decisions and future of our team.

    What do you guys think.

By the way I wrote this after reading another of Tannenbaums Gems "the better QB will start" on another site.

I would rather they give as little information as possible to their opponents regardless of whether or not it's entertaining to fans. The most entertaining thing about rooting for the Jets is watching them win, so if they feel that not saying anything improves their chances of winning, I'm all for it.

i would rather they were like they are than how herm was. granted it is two totally different ends of the spectrum.

i personally would really like something a little more in the middle as there are certain things that they keep to themselves that i really just dont feel are necessary to not talk about but this is the fo we have at this point we just have to deal with it as the media does not appear to be able to break them into saying something.

thank god however that they arent standing up there herm style and telling everyone exactly what the team is going to do in every facet.

honestly I don't really care about press conferences. I only care about results on the field and so far they have made the post season once in two years so far. I'm happy with that

did I miss a press conference? what put this in your mind? besides what do you want them to say? (I assume this is about draft picks) We think he is our saving grace, and he will bring us to the promised land! (or a FA pickup) He performed so well in his past job we decided to upgrade his salary 20 fold, and he will definately pan out because otherwise we look like incompetant morons and we will lose our jobs!

I think from a "save my own ass" perspective, the "he works hard" or "we like his potential" works best... fans have to live without the juicy tidbits of information from their inner thoughts. Take Lowery for instance some of us think he has a chance to be our next 4th round steal. If the staff comes out and says this "We drafted Lowery in the the 4th round, and we think we have a steal, and in the long run this kid is going to be a big time Perrenial Pro Bowler." If they say that, and he pans out nothing happens, they don't get bonus points for telling us he was going to be a star. If he fails and is nothing more than average, they lose mega points because they said he would be a star (kind of like a team selecting a franchise QB in the top 5) if they fail, the organization looks stupid.

No I did not just compare a 4th round pick who's coaches have said they drafted the best player in the draft to a top 5 selected QB. but the situation relates well... The QB is just an extreme example.

You know even if they put their footbal philosophy I don't want them to give out their game plan but really when you watch the experienced coaches give interviews they have alot more to say and give the fan something football related, but if you watch the the Jets shows you watch and hope they inform you. We invest alot of time, websites posts, reading, resarching, tickets, jerseys, and anything else jets I really think they could give us just a little would be nice

Get over it. I want a coach who coaches and a GM who manages. Leave the theatrics to Broadway.

so are you saying that you don't care if he's a great coach as long as his interviews are entertaining? Kansas City is in need of a few good fans ...

The point is, the most successful coach in the league is the one guy who perhaps gives less than Mangini and Tannenbaum. They all learned it from Parcells.

The reality is who the fuck cares if he's an asshole. I'm willing to bet that most of us would take him as coach in a New York minute. Yeah, we're pissed that he left, but we're only pissed because he's good. How many fans were upset when Al Groh left?

It's the difference between your girlfriend breaking up with you, and getting stood up at the altar.

To be fair, part of that was the fact that he was announced as coach, and then left for our (supposed) rival. But the fact still remains that he's a great coach, and he wins ballgames.

I am sick of this FO acting like they are keeping these big secrets from getting out into the public forum, Hey your running an NFL franchise, the other teams do their homework too. I don't think they would be giving away the store if they gave us their thoughts on what they like about each of our QBs, their strengths and what each could do better than the other.....I mean I don't think any teams don't no about Chads arm strength or Kellens inexperience, I would just like their insight into OUR team not a bunch of general and generic statements

Parcells had many entertaining press conferences that let you know exactly what he was thinking his and Belichicks interviews are completely different, I don't know what you have been watching.

Don't get me wrong I really like what these guys are doing with our team, they draft well in my opinion and I think they really do have a plan for this organization. My complaint is with the way they treat the fans, who for the most part support them and the team, with those BS press releases and interviews

Parcells had a more engaging personality, but at the end of the day he was the master of saying a lot without really saying anything at all. A lot of yelling and metaphors, but when he was done you still didn't know what he was thinking. Belichick handles it without the pomp and circumstance. But when you break it down, they both do the same thing. Mangini learned it from Belichick, and Belichick learned it from Parcells: don't give your opponent anything you don't have to. The difference, Mangini and Belichick are very bland. Parcells is all style and no substance.

Yes, Parcells' press conferences were entertaining, but he didn't say anything. No one did, does, or ever will do it like him.

You don't give sound-bite opinions about anything because you are then held to them all season, or it can cause tension in the FO and with the players of the roster. Them being diplomatic as possible is best for everyone.

The complaints i see here don't hold much water.

BS press conferences are made that way for a reason. Why do we deserve to know anything? Reporters don't deserve to know anything either. You want them to be show- they are not a show- they are as fun as a keynote address for a business- because it is a business first.
