Never mind the start of the regular season. That is not soon enough. I can not wait for the players to get to camp this year and for preseason to start. I know you guys probably think I am crazy, after all preseason to most is boring, but to me is the beginning of an exciting new season unfolding in front of us, with many new faces, some promising rookies, a few competitions in the making and with much more promise in our hearts than the year before. I can not wait to see what happens in the following areas: A) Our new OL ? How quickly they gel, and how that will change our running strategy. We shall no longer be ignored as a running team. Will a young prospect come out of the mix and become good depth for the vets? B) QB ? I am hoping and praying that KC wins it out right, but I know CP will be the consummate leader. KC had a rough year but so did CP. My view is that with CP we know his max capability and it will not get better beyond that, with KC is way too early to tell. If he manages to gain more field presence and quicker decision making he could be Chad with a cannon arm. (Remember as a rookie Chad had the same decision problems till they taught him to go with his instincts). Give them time and touchdowns will come. C) Defense ? Jenkins, Pace, VG, Harris, with a revived pass rush and a solid secondary. Who is going to play where? Will Thomas go to the weak side where he is most effective? We could be a force instead of second and 2 all the time. D) Our receiving group enhanced by a legitimate deep threat TE and two solid catching and blocking TEs. Who will they double team now? E) Our punting competition, and a choice for punt/kickoff returns with Leon/Miller/Lowery/Revis/Woodhead ? Special teams could rule. But I will miss the master directing the action while gripping his crutches. Every season springs new hope. Hope this season springs success. Go Jets
I agree, I enjoy the preseason for the simple fact that football is back. And to see the new players in action.
I hear that .. I am looking forward to see if the Pats rebound from their only loss of the season. Super Bowl hangover? History is against them, but we will see .. Hopefully they can break their own record of regular season wins in a row .. Can't wait.. Oh yeah week #2 at the meadow lands ..
whats completely unfair is that we get 3 days to prepare for you before we meet in foxboro later in the season.
Really?? I must of missed that.. For some reason or the other.. The last couple years that Foxboro game is always raining or snowing, and the Jets play out of their skulls.. I am hoping they get a day where weather conditions are nice in Foxboro ..
Haha .. Me too .. I want at least a 21 point victory .. We will see though, Jets have some pass rushers now..
The off season and pre-season are the best times to be a Jets fan ! Things don't turn to shit until the ball is kicked off in September. (Sorry, that's just 40 years of disappointment venting- I'm actually starting to believe that Namath made a deal with the devil)
I think the Pats/Jets meeting in NY will tell us volume about how we intend to play out the season. I'll bet we will be conservative as hell against the fish. OL and DL should be the key
Faneca, Mangold, and D'Brick on the o-line. Revis and Rhodes in the secondary. Gholston, Harris, Pace and Jenkins on the pass rush. We have a very solid roster this year. Now it's up to Mangini to put it to use.
Jets play Tennessee on sunday, then the Pats on a Thursday NFL Network game. It just a tough week of games. Tennessee will not be as good on D, IMO- due to Haynesworth having his big contract, and they lost alot of their linemen. But they will still be a psyical defense to play. Then- off to Foxboro to face the team with the best record last year, who is also a division opponent. Not fair.
Darth, I don't think you're crazy. Hell, this pre-season is already exciting. I am the last guy I would expect to get involved on a NYJ message board. I too would like to be a fly on the wall at training camp. You know, we don't have access to the majority of what they do in pre-season. Those "Preseason games" are just lab experiments that don't really show you a damned thing except those people who are fighting for their lives (after the lab experiments are finished in the first quarter). They are barely the tip of the pre-season iceberg. Still and all, here we are looking for every morsel we can grab.
i don't want to be a fly on the wall... but thanx for the vote of confidence in my sanity. i appreciate that.
I'm more excited than usual this year. Of course, my eye will be on the QB situation. I'm just hoping my hangovers this season will be because of victory drinking, rather than the other kind.
I wonder who's gonna do the best out of the guys we signed in the Off-Season Jenkins Pace Faneca Woody Gholston [Draft] Keller [Draft] This should be a very interesting Season... Cant wait.
