Apparently it's an open competition. Kapinos has looked great in minicamp according to the beat writers. I think Kapinos is the favorite to win the job right now, but Graham certainly has the ability to prove me wrong. Any other thoughts about this?
I saw Kapinos at Penn State. He is a real solid punter who always had a solid average in distance. Unfortunately he was punting a lot.
Graham, after all the good stories, is not an American Football punter (period). File him under Chad in the "Great Guy, No Longer Needed" category.
the long waiting time finally arrived. It?s pretty easy, a poor guy will have to write down distance, hangtime and accuracy of several houndred punts during camp and after all the numbers are analized, one guy gets cut. I don?t really care wo wins this battle. now, this thread belongs to the aussies. btw, take a look in the TT-section.
Graham needs to play better no doubt. If Kapinos plays better he has to start. Someone else will pick up Graham.
I really do care who wins this job. Just a punter? Are you F***ing kidding me? This guy determines where our D starts from, and last year was not good enough at all. Either Graham shapes up, or hes gone. I don't know enough about kapinos to make an endorsement or otherwise, but may the best man win. (If Graham does lose out and goes to another NFL team , I hope our Ozzy friends stay with us though :up
i thought i the year we made the playoffs graham was magnificent and a top 5 AFC punter. last year he was bottom 5 nfl in my opinion. GO KAPINOS!
Distance probably isn't as important as punts downed inside the 20. Graham use to be great at that. If he gets that knack back he wins the job period. Especially with out pathetic offense (maybe it will change this year) and the fact we are always punting from our own 45.
Pennington should join the punter competition. If he can punt like he throws( Rainbow-style) he'll lock it up no prob.
actually the new punt formation for the jets is a 4th down 4 wide shotgun in which pennington tries to complete passes 40 plus yards. our wr's make the tackle and itll be more effective than a punt.
After Graham's fall off last year, it is no surprise that the Jets are going to have a competition for a potential new punter.
Yeah or how tough he was going to be since he played Aussie rules. I think i've seen him attempt one tackle and he looked like a little girl. If he's an example of a tough Aussie rules guy then I think Curtis could come out of retirement move to OZ and dominate that game bad knee and all.
I'm rooting for Kapinos. I liked Graham, but his punting was simply abysmal last year. No distance, no accuracy, no angling. Kapinos couldn't be worse, could he?
