Chad Pennington post-shoulder repair record: 12-15. It has been recorded that throught the NFL history, anyone who has had rotator cuff surgery does not come back well from it. Its the death knell for QBs.
The man has his philosophy and will not waiver from it... him and I have debated it numerous times... respect the opinion and agree to disagree- it keeps everyones blood pressure down.
#1 Jets Fan, I made this for you: http://www.grapheine.com/bombaytv/index.php?module=see&lang=uk&code=da58a6649428a5adc80f6f32f6a2d136
Yes, unfortunately our running game scares other teams only slightly more than our passing game which is why McFadden would have improved both.
Quote: "...he OL has nothing to do with lining the hb up 8 yards deep and running the ball every single fucking time to the point where the announcers were calling what play it was going to be. i dont give a fuck if you have god almighty on the line when the defense knows what is coming they will tend to stop it...." By the way, this is exactly what the Raiders did to the Jets in 06 and they couldn't stop it to save their lives. Again, this is also exactly what the Washington Redskins did to the Jets in 07 and they beat the hell out of the line of scrimmage dominating half of the third and all of the fourth quarter. The NYJs are not respected on either side of the line of scrimmage. The defense can deliberately take away first one, then another, and finally all offensive options the NYJs have because of this domination. Neither the QB nor the RB has anything they can say about it. I say again, remember Tom Brady in the SB. You can rue the skill players and pine for "better" skill players until you are blue in the face. It won't do a damned bit of good unless the line of scrimmage is owned by the NYJs.
I'm with you brother. You wrote that like poetry. I would also like to point out as a reminder that the majority of the 12 games we lost last year were lost by a slim margin against tough teams. even though we lost those games, it wasn't by much. Not only were we close in winning those games, but we were close with a sorry cast of characters. Now we are completely upgraded in every angle. If we were close last year, with last years players, one could only imagine what we will do in '08 with our revamped team, and on paper playing a much easier schedule than last year.
The playoffs are really contingent on the rest of the AFC - since we'll probably be in the hunt for the Wild Card. I can see us going 9-7, but then again I said that last year and we ended up 4-12 - so what do I know?
I would be doing cartwheels for 9-7 It looks like we finally have the players they will take so time to gel. The QB situation also scaes me a bit. Chad is average at best, and Kellen is so raw. I really how Kellen wins the job out of canp becasu it will give us more hope for the future.
You have a point. But there are some things you are leaving out. Quincy Carter may have gone 2-1 in 04, but he was flat out awful in the two wins. He beat a Browns team 10-7 when the Browns were giving up about 40+ points a game at the time. And the reason the Jets won that game was two great plays by McCareins of all people on the winning drive. And he beat an awful Cardinals team with one long TD completion to Moss. He was sacked an average of 6-7 times a game behind a good OL and turned a good offense into a completely stagnant one. So let's not look at three games in 04 and read anything from it. Pennington would likely have won all three games started by Carter in 04 (he wouldn't have had the brain cramp Carter/Edwards had at the end of the Raven game either). Pennington is in the same place he was at the beginning of 06. He has to prove himself and win the job. We will find out soon enough. The Jets were so horrible last year, both on the OL and defensively, that it is hard to evaluate any offensive skill player. Let's face it, Clemens and Pennington were horrible last year. The OL will be much better, which should translate into better QB play from both Clemens and Pennington. Then again so was Marc Bulger. The thing all three have in common were swiss cheese OLs. I can't look at last season and make any comment on the QB play that carries into this year. No NFL QB is effective or productive without an OL and time to throw. It's always been that way. Look at Brady in the SB. I think we need to let this play out. We'll know soon enough. My rose colored Pennington glasses are off. My #10 jersey is retired and I will be wearing a Namath jersey from now on.
If Nick Mangold, Alan Faneca or Kris Jenkins get hurt (or Jenkins just does not work out as a NT) the Jets might struggle to win 4 games. Just imagine what you would be thinking about the Jets chances if the Dolphins pull off an upset week one in Miami and the Jets go home to face New England week two and then out to San Diego for week three.
our proven QB, is pennington. face it, he's our starter. i predict he'll have a real solid season. JUST MY OPINION, GUYS. I'M NOW PREPARED FOR THE VULGARITIES!
Pennington's numbers were solid last season. The Jets went 1-6 anyway. Nobody doubts Chad can put up a 95.0 passer rating while he's losing everything in sight.
Chad has a lot to prove AGAIN this year (as in 06, as someone pointed out). But Kellen has a major opportunity to take advantage of the mistakes he made (and the great extemporaneous responses he made to abysmal OL play) last year. I think it is unwise for us to throw either one of these QBs under the bus. I note that the CS is still hellbent on this QB competition this year, so apparently they feel that both have a lot to prove...and can.
I guess a 16-0 team and a 4-12 from the pervious yes is very likely the 4-12 will beat out the 16-0 team. COME on give me a break. To even think that way right now is just plan dumb
yes we was a 10 win team a few years ago but we only beat one team that year even worth talking about.
I wasn't talking about the Jets beating the Pats... I was referring to your own unique way of trolling and Jet bashing. :drunk:
