Ummm... well... yes, actually. Wouldn't you spend a few years in the weight room for 20 freakin' million dollars?

But I like your points. We've got a solid coaching staff in place. And more importantly, all our other draft picks are bona fide character guys, extremely hard workers, studiers, etc. Vernon isn't going to want to be the "laziest" rookie. I feel very confident about his work ethic and the team's, coaches' as well.

Seriously though, not the issue. Duckets, son, duckets! Darrelle Revis is one of my favorite Jets. He's a hard worker and he doesn't take plays off. That doesn't mean he got to camp on time.

    QUOTE OF THE WEEK III

"JaMarcus has been able to play at a big weight. He really has phenomenal feet for that size, to be able to move around for that size. You're never going to play with him at 260 or 255. If you think that's impossible, that's not his body. I think as long as you're around 270 [with him], you're doing really well.''

--Oakland coach Lane Kiffin, on his hefty second-year quarterback, JaMarcus Russell.

    Whatever you say, coach.

Can't wait to see him on the field this upcoming season.

HOLY SHIT, this deserves it's own thread. They're doing really well if Jamarcus Russell is around 270 lbs?! Can you even imagine how fat this guy is right now? Raider Jeaux, we demand a comment!

I think that the sixth pick's compensation will be well defined by the 5th pick and and the 7th pick negotiations. There isn't a lot of room for dispute -- as far as contract term, a sticky negotiating variable in a lot of contract negotiations, if you take a look at the precedent of Revis' so-called six-year contract that used incentives to deliver the contract length that the player's representation wanted, the FO has a good frame agreement with which to proceed.

It is in Gholston's best interest as it is in the NYJs' best intereset for VG to get into camp as soon as possible.

Where is the incentive for the team or the player to hold out?

Its a very very very serious line.

You are going to judge this teams history and holdouts by Revis?

Would you care to go back and look at the last 10 years or so? This teams percentage of bringing in draft picks is probably in the top five in the NFL.

You would have to agree MT has had incredible success with bringing in draft picks..even ones we never wanted.

If I'm not mistaken, Revis was the first #1 pick to not be at the first day of camp in the 10 years of Tannenbaum being responsible. That's pretty much unheard of.
