The Gap is not closed. They know who their starting QB is, we don't. It starts there.

Lets love our new Jet players that we get to welcome and root for next season. Understand we have a long was to go, but the Gap got smaller. We can look towards a better season than last year, but let's be reasonable, dominating the AFC East is not happening yet. We could if get players like Revis and Harris and Mangold etc. But we are not there yet.

I'd still like to see Chad Johnson! Then I'd say all needs were filled, still don't like going into the season with what they have now, Coles & Cotch? Both #2's at best.

Thats what I like about how this is playing out. We could have that long awaited nasty fast defense, that as a franchise we've been lacking (well since i've been watching the Jets anyway).

Defense wins championships and ours is shaping up to be rock solid. I hope everything pans out and we can get an identity as a fast, mean team to play against. Its a stretch but I want us to have that aura that makes teams hate going to the meadowlands a la the Ravens and the sack exchange of old. We're not there but I want that effect, and I think we have a good chance of getting something like that.

Really. What would they be without Brady or the Colts without Manning? Have you ever seen their backup play? Not pretty. Who gets the ball to Moss. That team got old in a hurry last season. Don't kid yourself. They will be 11-5 this season. What if Moss decides to go back to sleep? They have alot of question marks without Brady. Harrison .Ancient. Seymour disappeared in the playoffs and is always injured. DBs. Just lost their 2 best. Lb's getting old. Marroney is overrated. They were stacked last year. This team going in is not as good. They traded away alot to go for it last season. Then lost another#1 for cheating. They are not deep.

That's what I'm talking about! Confidence. It should start with us.

Dude....I luv the enthusiasm....but easy on the :drunk: sauce....
Yes...Jets' have improved there whole roster, but there was nowhere to go but up !!! Jets' still need better depth at DE/NT & OL before I get exicited.
Now when that happens...then I'll be a happy lil Jets' fan too.

We took some BIG steps towards closing that gap, but we aren't there yet. gotta see how all these new guys gel together and how fast they can do it. I'm happy with Gholston and I LOVE the KELLER PICK!...but did you guys see what Buffalo did? THEY may have closed the gap more than us...THAT'S my worry...missing the wild card due to freakin Buffalo!

That's always the problem with the draft, the other teams got players also.

We should win the first 3 games on the schedule based on the momentum we gained from that spectacular win vs. Kansas City. The draft hangover from not being able to draft the person we really wanted because of that win will be long gone. Victory, here we come. (sarcasm!)

    I hope you are right.

However, right now we have a bunch of resumes and some kids to join the survivors of the 4-12 07 debacle.

Hopefully, all these new parts will mesh well together, and we will be pleasantly surprised this coming September when the NYJs are kicking some ass on the football field.

I am hopeful, and encouraged, but I will only be convinced by the march of the Ws in the Fall.

Who have we closed the Gap with? We are still not as good as the Pats, Chargers, Colts, Browns, Jaguars or Steelers. We basically stayed on par with the Titans, Texans, Bills and Broncos. One of the other three teams that will be a one and done playoff victim this year if they bet us out for the final playoff berth. We still don't have a second Cb or depth on the O or D line and the Qb situation I will leave alone until Sept. One injury to an offensive lineman and we are back to 2007 all over again.

Closed the gap? I guess you can call it that if it goes from the grand canyon to something a little smaller

I think the gap has closed - what we added to our team is better than what we had. Now, how MUCH the gap has closed remains to be seen. Until they no longer have that guy taking snaps in N.E. we'll be a wild card team...

come on folks.....anyone who can post here with a straight finger that we have closed the gap with the pats has their own gap to worry about......

we have likely closed a gap on the wild card but NOT with the division champs.

there are still a few holdovers at certain positions that need to be weeded out this year and next.....DE, WR and QB.

unfortunately QB is the most important one at this point. IMO clemens will step up during the second half of the year and improve dramatically.

WR and DE will likely be the focus points of next years offseason so 2009 should be the one to make noise and really close the gap.

This is what makes me more confident. What was Garrard before last year? or Anderson? Their TEAMS got better and the qb's got the credit and the cash. Jags just traded away Stroud, not an easy guy to replace. Garrard played over his head, we all know that. The Steelers don't scare me and didn't we beat them last year? Phil Rivers is a question mark, still, and LT has alot of tread wear. If you don't think we are better than the Texans, Titans and Bronco's your just being overly pessimistic. The Bills are good, but their qb situation is not much different than ours. His O line was much better than ourslast year, hence the production. Colts and Pats are still the top, but we are in position to make a run at them.
