Hey, that might just be good enough to go all the way.

Running offense now, more suited for Chad with his great play-action passing. I see no reason for him to struggle this season if the offensive line plays up to it's potential. Considering what I just stated he should have pretty good numbers by the end of the season. Hopefully they'll utilize their tight ends this year which will take the pressure off the receivers.

The starter should be Clemens. I think he will do very well with our revamped O-line. But heck, I still think Chad deserves another shot with this new offense.

If the CS is planning on utilizing a dink & dunk offense in 2008...then Chad is the man.....but if we're gonna actually throw the ball farther than 5 yards...then Kellen should be starting.

    it's that simple.

Wasn't going to vote because, I don't really care as long as whoever it is plays well.

However, if pushed to choose who I "want" I choose Kellen because that means he took the next step and earned the job in camp/preseason.

This would set up a standeard situation of a young QB on the rise as starter, an established Vet as a backup in case of injury, and a long-term project serving as the 3rd stringer.

I have to go with KC, Time to give the kid the Keys to the family car, if he wraps it around a tree, time to get a new car (qb) next year, if he doesn't wrap it around a tree we're set. But we gotta Let him go this year. Last year wasn't great, and yes Chad technically outperformed him last year but so what. He made some rookie mistakes last year, you have to go through those pains. If the Giants had given up on Manning after his first year where would they be today? The same can be said of just about every qB out there.

Quite simply, Chad's the past. Of the QB;s on roster right now Kellen's the future.

NO, if Chad could not make all the throws he flat out would not be in the league, let alone competing for the starting job. He may not have a gun, but can throw a 60 yd bomb and can make the sideline throws when given time. I still believe we can win a SB with him. All I have to do is mention guys like Trent Dilfer in Baltimore and you should shut right up. And btw check out our new defense.....

Please dont come back with examples from last year, nearly every single one of Chad's picks that went for six where situations where we were down by 7 or more deep into the fourth quarter, no timeouts and he was running for his life behind that horrible off line.

I really hope Chad wins the competition this summer and in fact I fully expect that to happen. Like we all have been saying, let the best man win, I'm all in with Chad.

With the off-season moves made, and this team built to COMPETE SERIOUSLY NOW, I have to go with Chad. He has the experience , the knowledge, the pocket presence, the accuarcy, etc. to get us to the next level. Kellen IS the future, but it wouldn't hurt for him to watch a MASTER for one more year!

That is just delusional. He is more experienced but that is all he has over Clemens.

You are certainly welcome to your opinion that Chad should start, but facts are facts:

Chad cannot make all the throws required of a NFL QB. You can scheme around that like they do with Chad, but it simply a fact that Chad cannot throw the medium or deep out, or a deep post. He can throw a bomb but that is not the same measure of arm strength as outs and corners

What people dont realize is that a 20 yard out requires at least as much arm strength as a 50 yard bomb. But you cannot get a lot of air on the t20 yard out so it has to be thrown with a lot more velocity or it will be picked (as happened to Chad several times last year on 10 yard outs) Plus a 20 yard out can need to go 40 yards or more in the air and on a line.

Chad is simply not capable of that. He can heave one 50 yards down the field, but that simply does not correspond to being able to make all the throws. Far from it.

Well, guys, there's only one way to know, and that is how the CS conducts this competition between the QBs, and who comes out on top.

You guys that don't like Chad persist in saying he can't throw the ball, and the CS persists in saying that he is in direct competition with Kellen. I guess you guys have to agree to disagree with the CS of the NYJ.

Of course, you guys are a little hamstrung in that you can't see Chad and Kellen make all the throws in probably about 80% of this competition.

You'll just have to take the CS' word for who wins, then...

I know that's very frustrating -- hell, I wish I could watch it myself.

But you guys who are so adamantly opposed to the CS' treating these guys as competitors must really be pissed.

Too bad. We'll just have to live with it for a few more months, won't we?

You can always stop worrying about the NYJs and watch the Yankees...

Nobody knows for sure who would be better this year with all these changes.
I have to agree first of all with Alio about wanting Chad but being ok with either QB. Chad is my favorite player in the NFL and is strongly what got me into being a Jets fan so I'm going to go with my heart on this poll and vote Chad. However yeah I think KC might have a fantastic year if he starts, so who knows really?

With either QB starting I think Jones will have about 1200 yards and 6-8 touchdowns and I think Leon will have around 500-600 yards as well.

As far as WR's and TE's, I think with Chad we can safely say (baring injuries) that he will throw for roughly 3,300 yards and not have many interceptions but not have many touchdowns either. Anyway, I'm sure Coles and Cotch would both have around 1,100 yards roughly.

Now with KC, you never know. He may be a better scrambler for one thing, and he may be able to get Coles 1,400 yardsish and Cotch 1,200 yardsish.

It's really up to the front office and nobody should be mad when the choice is made because everyone should know we have great playoff potential with either man. I just personally think Chad can get it done in the playoffs where as KC will screw up...

I agree. Chad has my full support and I expect him to be our QB when the show starts. If Kellen beats him out I will be very happy too. These guys wear our uniform and now that the silly season and the draft is over it's time to start getting behind them.

I want the best guy to play who ever that is. I can't vote here. If chad proves he is the guy then we will do fine with chad. If it is Kellen that wins the job, great.

Please stop with the absurd "good old days of barely making the playoffs." Making the playoffs in the NFL is a pretty good accomplishment, especially with a team that has a terible history. Your point seems to be suggesting that any team that barely makes the playoffs should get rid of the qb. Right, I also think the Rams should cut Bulger and the bengals should cut palmer. Did you know that when we lost in the playoff games we didnt have a roster of 53 chad pennington's? Chad pennington was only our qb, and is only partially responsible for the lossses. Stop acting like a qb play automatically determines wins and losses b/c it doesnt, and it is not even the most important thing in determining who wins playoff games. It really comes down to coaching and the play of the offensive and defensive lines. Last time I checked Chad only played qb.

Wait, so since the Ttitans were 10-6 last year, does that mean Vince Young is a great qb? (even though he is actually the worst starting qb in the NFL)

Also, Clemens won more games not because he was better than Chad, in fact he was worse, but because the play of the defense, which had no association to the qb play. Just like 2 seasons ago, the Jets only started playing defense after the bye week, regardless of the qb.
