I think we are the best team in our division. There I said it. On paper, this is the best team we have had since the AFC Champ game. The D will be nasty and the O will be stout. Who is our QB? Whoever wants to drive this Ferrari more. We still have some holes, but everyone does now. Time to win our home games and take the division. NE will have a hangover, most SB losing teams do. The hunger is there.

I think we have the best D in the division. We can win the division only if we beat them week 2, and win every game we shoudl win.

I think they will win the division because they have like 3 losable games.

Guys it has been only like 3 hours since the draft concluded, it is the end of April. Can we wait a few months before crowning ourselves? Remember we were 4-12 for a reason last year. I am optimistic about Keller, but he has a big time knock, he can't block. I hope for Gholston to be the demon some of you expect, I think Lowry has potential to be our steal in round 4, and this kid Woodhead, looks like he can be that punt return guy we have been lacking since Santana stopped returning punts.

But we have to take a step back the pats just went 16-0 a hangover they may have, but I doubt they fall to 9-7, 10-6 where we could potentially have a shot to win the division. Saying we will have more than 10 wins this year is ludacris it is mid april after all...

the path to the sb goes through ne. that's why:

we drafted the one player that ne coveted, vernon gholsten.

we drafted the one player that will give ne's aging LB/S core fits, keller.

that's why we beat ne game two of the season and never look back.

While I'm feeling pretty damn good about our team right now, the Patriots are still the best team in the division until another team takes the title next season. Will it be us? I'm confident it will be, but it's going to be a long and tough road.

Needless to say, I think we're all psyched. I haven't seen optimism of this magnitude on this board in a long time.

I've said it before and I've said it again... SLOW DOWN!

In the three seasons from '05-'07, the Jets have won 18 games

In '07 New England won 18 games

Let's wait until we see some progress on the field before we even COMPARE ourselves to NE

People said we closed the gap last offseason.

I'm excited too, but be realistic.

I do think we have the potential to be the top D in the division. Jenkins, Pace, and Gholston are going to be huge for our D...

We are a much better team than we'll be given credit for. I think we can pop onto the scene much like the Browns did, but I doubt we have a top flight anything like the Browns have a top flight O.

I still believe this franchises greatest strength right now isn't it's talent, it's the discipline. That alone makes us a better team than we should be, and it's the main reason we managed to stay competitive in most games last year.

Its more optimism after an ass kicking off season. We are breathing down their necks and you can feel them squirm. BB looked like he was waving a white flag in that goddamn awful pink shirt and tie combo on the NFL Network. He actually attempted to comb his comb over. When is the last time we went into the draft and grabbed the best 2 guys available at their position? Gholston has a question mark, but word is if Parcells didn't grab JL he was after Vern. Just too much talent. We actually got a TE NOT TO BLOCK, instead a weapon to keep them honest.Basically Jonny Mitchell if he wasn't a mental patient. I can't wait for him to knock the rest of the HGH out of Harrison. Koppen is in for it with us w/ Jenkins and Buffalo w/ Stroud. CAN YOOUU DIIIGG IITTT?(Warriors ref.)

i agree with Dware, we will not beat you on superior talent, but superior execution. We will beat you to death on the basics, and we won't make moronic mistakes. Plus I have a feeling that Mangini will have these boys motivated and ready to prove something.

Honestly if I am Mangini I go up to Chris Baker and say "Chris, I feel your pain, man I told those guys who control the money to give you something, and they tell me he doesn't deserve it. So Chris i tried my best, but the only way you are going to get the money you deserve is if you go out there and dominate and earn that money, and i personally can garuntee you a big time deal next offseason."

Then I keep my promise and I give Baker every oppurtunity at TE this year, while Keller learns the game, and I play Keller in that Dallas Clark H-back role during his rookie year when Marcus Pollard was there, basically spot duty. and then after the season I either trade Baker for everything I can get, hopefully a 3rd rounder, or I cut him loose because not only do we know longer need him (especially if he has a good year he will really want an extension and more money) and we give keller full command of the position.

Johnny, theres point in making a movie reference that everyone knows and telling us you made it. If anyone picks up on it and cares enough to comment they will.

    /End constructive criticism.

Our defense is shaping up to be one DB away from scary.

Our offense while improved still needs more work.

  17. We arent ready for a deep playoff/super bowl type run. We have however..put the proper people in place, to play the scheme/style the regime prefers. We also have a damn good young core..including a mean, NASTY back 7 on D.

We are likely another good draft(and we ar stacked w/ picks next year) away from filling in acouple loose ends(like an offensive playmaker) and building some quality depth, to being a perennial contender. But we are well on track.

Decent shape to close the gap, but IMO how the moves of this offseason pan out will effect the franchise for years. A lot of high risk, high reward moves have been made thus far, so I guess it's only fitting that they're also going to be paying tons of cash to a guy changing positions that has shown a lot of upside but also still has a lot to prove ( I suppose drafting anybody in the top 10 is very risky).

Scoring points is also necessary to winning games.

I'm very excited about this draft. I believe we got very athletic. I'm not going to overthink it like I have in previous years. At the end of the day...

Gholston- A dynamic athlete in the front seven who, when you combine workouts and numbers, has as much potential as anyone to be a star pass rusher in the NFL. The Jets have been running this system for two years now without a dynamic pass rusher. The addition of two this off-season should be a tremendous help.

Dustin Keller- I don't like his size, and I was a little concerned that he was a workout warrior, but this guy flat out produced on the collegiate level. This is a receiver in a tight end's body. He is flat out smooth in the open field. During his interviews, he comes off as a very high character, serious guy. Ditto with Gholston. You can see footbal is priority one for these guys.

Lowery- I think people are overreacting to this pick because he's not a burner with shut down cover skills. Simply put, it's very difficult to find those types in the fourth round. What we got was a kid who could eventually end up being the rangy, ball hawking safety we need opposite Rhodes. If not, he's a dangerous ballhawk in a nickel/dime package. Neither Elam or Smith has elite ball skills. If anything, Lowry provides us with versatility. Definitely a gamer. In a division where the Pats are likely to spread the field, it helps to have guys who can take advantage of mistakes. I like his football IQ. I would have preferred Quintin Demps, but I'm not going to cry over this guy.

Erik Ainge- I love this pick. I have no idea why Ainge wasn't rated higher, and quite frankly, I'm shocked he lasted as long as he did. He's not a system quarterback, he's not a mobile quarterback, and he's not a workout warrior. Simply put, he's a guy who throws the ball accurately, has great pocket presence, and good touch. He doesn't have an NFL body yet and I think that's what hurt him. Again, another smart football player. He threw for 7 TD's against Kentucky this year. He dominated the bowl game against Wisconsin. He needs work selling his play action and he needs to get stronger, and I think he's walking into the perfect situation here to sort that stuff out.

Marcus Henry- Aside from Ainge, this is my favorite pick. I don't think anyone envisioned this guy getting drafted and Adarius Bowman searching the want ads on draft day, but that's what happened. All I read about is his lack of elite speed but he averaged 18.8 yards a catch this season. Everything I read about this guy says "great hands." The last receiver I recall being dismissed in such a manner and dropping like a rock on draft day had 1130 yards receiving for us last season. Henry could be the big threat we've lacked a few years down the line.

Nate Garner, OT, Arkansas- He's big. He's serious. He looks like a real meathead. I don't know much about this guy, but he looks physically imposing. In the seventh round, I'll take it.

All in all a lot of quality guys. I think they did a great job this year. No Schlegel, No Eric Smith. I'll take it.

    -X-
