For those of you out there who are high on Darren McFadden (who is not necessarily my choice but is almost definitely the best offensive prospect this year), do you think it's worth trading up with Atlanta to take him?

I really don't see anyone in this draft worth trading up for.

if our FO believes he is going to take this team to the next level, i say yes.

i was'nt a fan of doing this, originally, but with the thought of using him as a reciever, along with jones, and washington, i say YES!

Hell no. If he falls and we take him fine, but no reason to be giving up any of our farmland just to reach for some guy that isn't a guarantee anyhow. If anything we should probably try and trade down. But if we feel we have to take a stud from the top lets stay where we are. This is not a year to get cute about things.

We did a lot of trading up last year and it worked out great.

That was last year and yeah, it turned out ok. But I think having more picks will help us more than having one hyped player and alot less picks. We have plenty of other more glaring needs. Last I looked we weren't hurting in the RB department.

I like McFadden, I think he's the most explosive and dynamic player in the draft, but in no way would I want to trade up for him.

No, I belive the Jets should sit at 6 and take whomever drops to them. They are guaranteed to get one of the Top 6 propects in a draft that seems to contain only seven stud players.

At worst, on paper, the Jets could end up with the most electrifying running back in their history, a true franchise QB, the son of a Hall of Famer who has been graded as least likely to bust or a linebacker favorably compared to Carl Banks.

All but Chris Long have downsidesas well. But insrtead of giving up assets to move up, just grab the one that falls to 6.

In my mind, this is the best argument for trading up for DMF: I know this has been discussed in other threads but what if the first 5 picks are Jake Long, Chris Long, Gholston, DMF, and Dorsey? Do we really want to take Matt Ryan? If not, will we be able to trade down? Do we reach for a CB? I really don't think it's a good spot to be in.

I disagree, outside of McFadden being available at 6 I think this is the best case scenario for the Jets and may end becoming a blessing. Having Ryan available to us gives us the option of taking him and solving our biggest need if they do feel as strongly about him as the rumors suggest or in this scenario between Ryan and Ellis available gives us at least 3 teams that would be interested in the 6 spot and would probably offer us some real value to move down.

My first choice is McFadden but either way I'm hoping Ryan is available to us.

You wouldn't trade up for Chris Long?

No...trading up is not a good idea. Trading down makes more sense since we traded up twice last draft.

Statistically speaking, that was an anomaly. History has shown that more often than not, trading up almost never works out in the end. While I believe in this regime and its ability to evaluate talent, they aren't psychic.

If is goes how you said, and we're staring at Ryan at six. . . who says we can't take Mayo, or another LB, or someone else?

I understand that we'd like to pick Long, Gholston, or DMF. . . But there are still other players out there to select. . . .and if we don't want Ryan, take someone else. . . Preferably whoever NE is gonna draft

This is my sentiment exactly. I wasn't bothered before if we took DMC or not, I love Chris Long too, but having watched him lots over the past few weeks I feel he is the guy. After last year's dissapointment he could gives us a real boost! Get McFadden!

I don't believe the Jets will have to trade up to get McFadden. He'll be there at 6. The Raiders have to address their defense which was 31st in the league against the run giving up 4.8 yards per carry and approximately 145 yards per game on the ground. They do not have a draft choice after 4 until Day 2.

Can anyone out there please give me accurate info on why NFL.com and the NFL Netwotk is not recognizing the 2008 5th round draft choice received in compensation resulting from the Pete Kendall trade with the Redskins?
KFFL.com recognizes this trade, and the NFL is not. I'd like to know the reason. Was he hurt most of last year and the pick became a wash?
