He's definately more talented than Baker... and has excellent hands when he's in the right frame (of mind)... thats his problem, and being injured...not the talent level. And he can block... this is really a no brainer, based on talent... Shockey is better, plain and simple.

Most of the posts have been very negative about Shockey, yet he leads in the poll. Weird...

As for Shockey (at this point in his career) being that much better than Baker, I just don't see it. Baker is in great shape, younger, and has a lot of years ahead of him. His numbers can't touch Shockey's, but who's to say if Baker had as many passes thrown his way as Shockey has over his career, the numbers would be that far apart? I personally think Baker wants out because he's being wasted here. Now if a guy like Baker can be pissed about all the promises to get him the ball more for the past few years being horseshit, imagine what living with Shockey's ego will be like when he only has 2-3 balls thrown his way every game. That is, if he can stay healthy long enough to bitch about it.

I have one thing to say about this thing... If Baker were as good a recieving TE as everyone says, or thinks he is, he would be used as a weapon by ANY staff, including this one... yet he's not. Now, I rely on the coaches at the pro level to be a bit smarter than the posters here, so I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and say, he's not as good as people here think, and that he is WAAAYYYYY over-valued here.

The past years, he's had to stay back and block though because of how poor the rightside of the line was for us. He cant be used as a weapon sadly.

As for Shockey, I think he gets too bad of a rap but while hes more talented than Baker hes a bigger headcase than him. He will want some big money as well(Unless he has a big deal) and there are times where he makes crucial drops. Top 3 blocker in the league though, hes great at that and plays at an intensity thats great. But he more often then not has his arms up and yells at the QB for not giving him the ball. Giants offense ran more fluid with Boss at TE to end the year, just because Eli could focus more upon running the team instead of trying to satisfy Shockey.

I dont think Giants do this deal though, other teams would offer more.

Here is another point I'd like to make to everyone. Shotty comes from an offense in SD where they relied heavily on the TE. He comes to NY, do you think he forgot that??? There could be a bigger reason we don't use Baker as often... he's just serviceable, and not "special" or "above average"

and no!! to the clown that keeps thinking everything is racially motivated here... it's not cus he's black, and Shotty is white he doesn't get the ball...

Anyway... maybe, just maybe... he's just a run of the mill TE. He got ZERO, 0, NADA, ZIPPO interest in the FA market when he tested the waters, was given more money in December, and wants more or to be traded now... tell him and his agent to go pound salt...

It's gotta tell ya something... don't let it smack you in the face... I'll tell ya what it is... he's not that good.

Seems the Giants have turned down 2nd round pick from the Saints for the rights to Shockey.

Why couldn't we convince the Saints to give up a 2nd for Vilma?

    No thanks.

I'm a fan of Baker, I just want him to get things straightened out with the front office.

I disliked Mark Gastineau when I was a little kid in the 1980s. Jeremy Shockey is from similar douche stock.

The Giants will get a 2nd round pick for him or won't trade him at all so this is all moot.

As is Baker...we don't need either. Although Shockey has 10 times the talent of Baker.
