Heard this on AM 570 out here in Los Angeles, so there is no link. We tend to get a lot of Raiders news/talk. It's generally fairly reputable when it comes through. Lee 'Hacksaw' Hamilton reported that the Jets were in talks with the Raiders about a possible draft day trade to send a defensive lineman to the Raiders to move up from 6 to 4. At first, I got excited thinking that meant DRob, but Hacksaw said it was believed that the player sent would be Kenyon Coleman. I don't think it's worth it to move up those two spots, since he was a very underrated part of our defense last season, but I suppose it depends on the situation when the Raiders are ready to pick. If Chris Long is still on the board, what do you think? Also, it would be an odd move for a team that gave up Coleman just a few years ago.
I would imagine that both the Raiders and the Chiefs would be threats to take Chris Long. Al Davis could convince the anti-McFadden faction in his front office if he were able to swing a DLineman. The Chiefs have become a wildcard since the Allen trade.
Not sure. I just started coming back to the boards a couple of weeks ago after a few months abroad, but it was reported on AM 570 a couple of days ago. Sorry if I'm rehashing old news.
If this trade happened, our 2nd rounder would have to fill Coleman's spot (or attempt to). I'd be extremely happy with: #4 Chris Long 2nd Dre Moore
We got Bobby Hamilton from the Raiders. Kenyon Coleman was a former Cowboy. Frankly, if this nets us Chris Long, I'm all for it. But I really like Kenyon Coleman and I'd much prefer to see Long used as a utility man, occasionally filling in for Coleman, Ellis, Pace and especially Thomas.
Yes, but he was traded to the Cowboys from the Raiders, who drafted him. They didn't give him much of a chance. He was there one season.
I think it depends who is on the board at 4 if we should make the move or not. If Long, Gholston and McFadden are all available at 4 then I don't think its worth the trade. . . BUT if only one or two of them are left, it may be worth it. . .
I think Long makes it to us if we stay at 6. As already mentioned, this is essentially giving them our high 2nd round pick to move up 2 spots. No thank you.
we didn't move up 2 yrs ago to grab Bush (tho we might've tried). Doubt we do it here even if there is coaching staff wet dreamz for DMC, Long, or Gholston
DRob to the Raiders would be nice - it would be a ripoff for the Raiders, unless DRob actually is the second coming of Sapp. But Coleman? Seems like we'd just be creating another hole we'd have to fill. When this rumor went around a month ago I thought: I bet they are just trying to feel out the Raiders and get a sense of who they are going to draft. I f I remember correctly, it was not long after this rumor began that the Jets started openly courting McFadden. THEREFORE: I think this rumor was a feeler more than a real offer, both then and now.
I still think C. Long will be gone by #2...it seems as though the St Louis Rams are going to take him so if we did trade up it most likely won't be for C. Long. Also if this was heard a few days a ago, then Jake Long was still a possibility for the Rams, so as of yesterday, this rumor could become complete BS...
That's shitty. I definately like Coleman as our DE. And I really don't like this trade up talk. At #6, we can get either Chris Long, Vernon Gholston or Darren McFadden. And all would be TERRRIFIC additions.
