The Jets Apparently won't draft Matt Ryan, even with a gun to their heads

Problem is, next year's draft looks even weaker at the QB position then this year's

People really REALLY need to stop saying this. In a level playing there is almost no question that Kellen will beat out CHad. He did LAST YEAR, and some starts and another offseason is sure to widen the gap. No way Kellen loses a fair competition against CHad, and to be honest I further think it will be stacked in Kellen's favor anyway.

I'm sorry fellas, but the proof is in the pudding. Had Kellen beat out Chad he would have started. You can keep on repeating it over and over, but doing so won't make it true. We are about to see the level of faith the CS/FO actually has in Chad. There will be another competition this year. Maybe your wishes will be granted and Kellen actually will beat out Chad. I won't hold my breath.

The schedule makers have taken care of this problem for us. After the Charger game in week three Chad will take a permanent seat on the Bench. There will be no saving him from the Media or the fans once he folds like a deck of cards for two consecutive weeks! It will end Ugly for Chad this year.

I like your thinking. I think Brohm will be the best QB value in the draft. Excellent mechanically, good size, well coached, excellent pedigree, solid arm strength, good production...

Biggest problem is the injury history, but Brohm is polished, skilled, and can fit into todays NFL offenses perfectly...

So then what you are saying is Chad will beat out Clemens this summer and get the job. If that happens then we sure as hell better draft a QB because I don't disagree Pennington could fold or get hurt. Even with that it means Clemens isn't worth keeping even now.

And then again Flacco may turn out to be the best. For some reason I think everybody agrees it won't be Ryan.

Im saying that in the event that Kellen gets screwed again this year it will not take seven games for Mangini to correct his mistake. Week 2 and 3 will be Ugly loses for the Jets with Chad at the Helm and it will mark the end of the Chad era in Ny. I fully expect Kellen to win the job this summer. With that said if we trade down and get an extra second or Third rounder it would be wise to look at a Qb.

Last year he may have gotten screwed. This year the job is his to win or lose. There will be no screwing. If he can't win it over a broken down old QB like Pennington then we had better have a good rookie in the trenches.

This is wishful thinking, not consonant with the facts.

No one who counts knows whether Chad or Kellen will win this competition -- not you or I, but the CS of the NYJ.

This competition behind an improving (hopefully -- as we have yet to see real evidence) OL will be great for the competitors and even better for the team.

This competition, as with any or every other position on the team, makes everybody play better.

Performance should win opportunity -- that's the point of this approach to the off-season.

I'd also like to point out that most of this competition will take place out of sight -- the "pre-season games", which aren't contests at all just public practices structured for a variety of different purposes, are only about 15% to 20% of the off-season body of the competition...if that much.

I wish we could see the whole thing, but the CS haven't found a way to do that without tipping their hand.

Nothing in that article that hasn't been done to death on these boards. I guess it's as close to a conformation that we'll get about Ryan until the Jets make their pick though.

The ONLY reason Chad started was because Mangini named him the 2007 starter before the season starter, and Mangini was not in a position to go back on that with the team Captain, despite Kellen CLEARLY outplaying him in preseason, until Chad had lost the job and the team would not revolt at the change. Which Chad did in repeated pick-6 fashion.

Based on performance prior to the season, Chad would have been 4th on the depth chart. He was handed the job before TC.

Very glad if true, the worst pick possible is drafting a QB with the 6th pick.

Correct... Chad was the starting QB before TC last year, and once the season was lost, then it was time to hand it to KC. I think the CS knows that Chad will not be looked at with his past helping him. It will be from the 1st TC practice on, so Chad will actually have to play his best- i just don't think at this point in his career his best can beat out Clemens.
