the muncher fascinates me. No matter where we're are slated with our two picks, the perceived value has the top 2 QBs going to us. It is a sign?
Pennington's time is over. Do you really think he will be the same QB he was in 2004? He' older and more importantly had two surgeries on his right shoulder. It's amazing how many people think he can be a good quarterback. Did you guys watch the same games I watched last season. Drafting a Franchise QB, whether it be in the 1st or 2nd Round isn't a bad idea. I will give you the argument that we havent seen enough of Clemens but do not bring up Pennington. It shows how unknowledgable you are.
I agree.. Chad is done yes, Clemens may deserve one more year.... but neither make me confident that we have a QB to lead the team. This kid is a leader, he lead a shitty offense in BC, so he'll be used to it here. Pull up any interview that he's done. It's nothing but "if i'm not winning, i'm dying" not many players talk like that. Perhaps he can bring this franchise back from the dead. He did it for his team in games, doing nothing but be a 4th Qtr gem leading the offense to win from behind. VT game is a big example. I understand the sentiments with taking a QB this early and adding another QB to the "competition"- its risky, not safe in the least, and will set the franchise back 5 years if he is a bust. Yet his intangibles are better than Chad in 2002, arm better than Chad in 2002, and can come back in the 4th qtr better than Chad can, Period Do not be shocked if he winds up on this team come draft day. He is not by far my 1st pick. I want Defense 1st, but if his name is called. I'm smiling, nodding my head like "ok,this will be his team soon, let's go."--- best case scenario, Clemens becomes Derek Anderson, and now we have two good young QBs.... we keep Chad (he won't go for it) we have a great 3rd QB. We'd be set at the position. This kid's drive rivals Chris Long and Glenn Dorsey's, and i wouldn't be shocked that if measured, beats it. PFW is not very credible, but the theory of the pick isn't a bad idea. On D, this regime may be contigent with what we have at the front 7, we aren't but they may be. The secondary will be adressed due to the hole at #2. We do need a WR, and the line a RB is filled- our O-Line is fixed. The competition may be because there might be another name being added to the list of competing QBs. Its a slim chance this is true, but it almost makes sense.
I saw this Lombardi asshole yesterday on NFL Network. You could tell by the look on Marshall Faulk's face that he was holding a lot of stuff back because he thought this guy's Mock Top 10 was a joke. Faulk's not my favorite analyst, but he usually knows his stuff when it comes to running backs, and other skill position players. Lombardi must be a Bengals fan, because there's no way McFadden falls to them at 9, and he said that Kenny Watson was one of the best third down backs in the NFL. The stuff he was saying about Kellen Clemens made absolutely no sense. Something like: "Clemens isn't a starting quarterback in this league because he takes a lot of hits...hits that a lot of the fans, and others don't see. These unseen hits effect his throws when he gets outside of the numbers." The guy's an idiot.
That draft board has the jets taking Matt Ryan at 6 and Brian Brohm at 36, which really makes absolutely no sense
I can see the Jets taking a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round knowing Chad is just about done and unsure about KC (remember, KC is the guy both Mangini and Tanny said was the guy). There is no way the Jets are taking Ryan unless they have giving up on KC because this move would destroy KC's confidence.
Yes, I think that's right. If they take a 1st or even 2nd round QB then look for Clemens to get traded before camp opens. Maybe he could stick around 1 more year but I don't think so. He would be really unhappy and my guess is he would make that well known to everybody.
Why doesn't anybody have the Jets taking Ellis and playing him at DE? If C. Long and Gholston are gone, I'd draft Ellis before a CB if he can play DE. He'll help us stop the run and get to the QB!~ I want the Jets to go d-fense at #6 and offense early in the second round if they can't trade down. Nobody talks about Ellis if Long and Gholston are gone, I like the idea of line of S. Ellis - K - Kenkins - Ellis -........... K- colemna can rotate in becoming the 3rd DE off the bench I think Ellis will be a better pro than Gholston!
If they take a QB in Round 1, then there must be a trade in the works for Chad or Clemens. Clemens would bring the higher pick in return. Chad behind a better O-Line might make for an interesting year.
I disagree...the O-Line will help but if you can't throw the ball down the field or throw the 15 yard out you should not be an NFL starting QB. Also, as much as I hate to admit it Eli is head and shoulders above Chad in talent. Chad has a ton of heart and the will to win but he has a bum shoulder and becasue if it he is no more than a backup.
i could be the most accurate passer in nfl history if i never threw a pass more that 7 yards.:breakdance:
