Exactly. HTH is Jones going to become a 1700 yard rusher when Tomlinson led the league last year with 1474? Amazing what Jets fans think about their own players.

Not so fast. You may have a point as far as the relative strength of the Jets' OL versus the Chicago OL when Jones was still a Bear. But Chicago didn't have the QB or a decent passing game to keep the defenses off balanced like we do. I think that under the right conditions and if the offense remains relatively healthy, TJ may just surpass his overall production numbers as a Bear.

Leon Washington does not have break away speed. In two seasons he doesn't have a touch from scrimmage that is longer then 20 yards.

The guy is quick and has good moves, but he doesn't not have break away speed.

So we have a QB and a passing game? This is what I'm talking about, people are overrating the overall offensive talent on this team. If we have a better passing game than Chicago (and we don't) it isn't by much. Certainly not by enough to suggest it making Jones any better of a player.

It's funny the same thing was once said about a back of similar measureables who could still be playing, this guy named Tiki, if I remember correctly... to small, can't block, scat back, 10 touches...

Just though I'd throw that out there...

This is why Justin Miller's idiot altercation bothered me just as much as his hamstring. A double threat that would make us scary.

I love Leon big time, but who doesn't get a big dose of fear every time he fends a football? I swear to God, I hold my breath whenever he takes off. Years of conditioning, no cure for that.

    neither can I...

IMO, Leon is the most explosive player on the Jets O. When Blaylock and Houston could'nt get the job done, Leon stepped up and posted 4+yds avg rushing for atleast over 80yds a game two yrs ago. I think he is still under utilized. He needs to take more carries and get involved more in the game plan. He's like Lamont Jordan, except with better speed. Remember the screen? His quickness and his moves, combined with his speed gives him the edge as an explosive player. He may not be the 'MOST' speedy, but his speedy moves makes him much better. Heres some highlights:

  12. Yep. Anything to rationalize us passing on DMAC.

No rationalizing it... Just thought it was funny how it seems people want to overlook the skill set of players on the roster already.

The official "how to" post that shows how not to be taken seriously on a message board. Either that or its the mother of all sarcasm omissions. :breakdance:

The its not a question of whether or not his explosive the problem is he is the only explosive player and he is far from an everydown player, how could we possibly exclude Mcfadden just because we have leon. Mcfadden is more explosive and will get three times as many touches as leon ever will, and thats not due to gameplanning, leon is simply to small to be an every down back.

We haven't finished with the OL yet. There's still the draft, the coaches get to have a series of "go's", and there are those players that are released before the beginning of the season.

BS offensive strategy behind a DOMINANT OL is a different animal.

    Watch the smoke.

Everyone makes the arguement, dont take DMC we have Jones and Washington, but whats so much better about taking Gholston when we have Bryan Thomas.

I dont see the difference making me have to go with the BPA and that is Mcfadden hands down.

But we have only seen TJ up close and personal behind a horrendous OL sieve in 07.

It's impossible to judge TJ on the basis of this body of work -- except to say that it is downright amazing that he got to 1,119 yards this year

He was often making something out of nothing. TJ is a very smart RB who has the patience and vision to take advantage of anything his OL can give him.

The Big Man On Campus (Darren McF) is used to waltzing through big holes and then outrunning everybody in the secondary.

The Big Man On Campus will have to face what he expects to be 2 second holes become 50 millisecond holes in the LOS. He will have to see about the patience it takes to find the hole when it is dancing two slots to the left of where he's headed.

We've got a guy in TJ who can make something out of nothing -- he's already part of the cap.

If we spend more money in the draft let's improve a part of the team that needs it -- like the pass rush or the OL or the secondary.

    TJ quite frankly isn't broken.

Don't bother trying to fix him.
