someone familiar with lito please describe how he would work out on our roster, and how valuable he would be.
Over the past two seasons, Lito has played in 24 games, with 81 tackles 18 passes defensed and 8 ints (he had only two last season) so I don't know how valuable he is stats wise. He could be a great on the field guy but whenever I've seen him I havent seen it much. I think he would definately be an improvement on Barrett. But maybe Justin Miller?
This is ridiculous, why would the eagles want to trade up to 6, they would have to give up Lito, thier fitst and second. No way they do that, beside trade up for who? Gholston maybe but they really dont need de, even though they lost kearse. They draft Abiamiri last year in the second to be his replacement, they really need a safety, values not there or a Wr, values not there. If there was a Wr worth the number 6 pick. We would be looking at that guy long and hard.
Tangini then becomes the president n VP of the United States...lol... I would love to take Lito and their 19th with our 6...alone...We lose value doing so but guess what we get?...We get a much needed CB, plus we get a chance at one of the best WRs in the draft. If Eagles only want to get to the 10th or 9th, then we would probably have to offer them something based on a 9th pick, not 6th. In that scenario, we would get Lito, 19th, and a 3rd for our 6th overall and maybe a 6th rounder. I would'nt mind that at all. Eagles have 11 picks this yr but they would'nt wanna give it up. We pick a WR at 19th, a DT/DE with the second, and maybe a QB with the 3rd...But I know thats never gonna happen. CB this yr seem to be good, but who knows how good they will be in the NFL? Lito is a proven CB and gets us one of the finest duo with Revis. Plus we wont have to pay the aweful #6 money to our first rounder...it works out for both teams.
so you'll take less when the guidelines of the value chart clearly state that philly is going to have to throw in another pick to make the trade fair? you'll last as a GM... Philly has to throw in the 2nd round pick w/ the 1st and Lito for the 6th, alone. If our 4 (longs,DMC,Gholston) are gone and they want the DTs or one of the high rated CBs then lets make a deal. If jake long is at 6 i could trade down and pick up the extra 2nd rounder and use that to get a T/G player.
Under normal circumstances, no...Thing is, if the rumor has some wings and Eagles ONLY want to move to the 9th atmost, then they will offer as much as for a 9th. We need a CB. But Eagles arent looking for a 6th. So you'll have to improvise. No idea who they are targeting but if we can get Lito, 19th, 2nd, and 4th, then deal done in a split second. However, I would'nt wanna miss out either on Longs, McFadden or Gholston. In which case we can get a decent CB with the 36th aswell. So I think we are in a win win situation either way IMO.
they're not going to move up in my opinion. I don't believe the eagles have moved up in the first in the andy reid era and I don't really see why they would want the jet's spot at 6 anyway. #1 the top 10 picks command a lot of money, #2 what position would they really want at that position? RB, DE, CB, S? There isn't a glaring need at any one position and they have already addressed a few positions in free agency. I believe the eagles will go with a linemen like they usually do and there is a deep offensive tackle class which the eagles will probably go for, maybe Otah at 19. Sorry jets, but it isn't happening
I'm going to try that approach at a car dealer. They sell Ferraris, but I only want a VW, so they'll have to sell me the Ferrari for a VW price. This is going to be great!
wasn?t there another roumor, that the Pats want to trade for Lito? Pats want Lito, Eagles use Lito as bait to get to the top 10, Pats have the #7...
I don't understand how this is such a terrible trade. This team should be upgraded right now at 3 more positions, #2 CB, WR and ILB next to Harris. Under this scenario the Jets would get a very young, very talented CB who has experience starting on a playoff team, a pick where we are pretty much guarunteed the first or 2nd receiver in the draft which would free us up to take a guy like Curtis Lofton in the 2nd round. If they were to add lets say a 4th rounder then we have 3 in that round and could package a couple of them together if we wanted to move back into the 3rd and get a DE like Kendall Langford from Hampton. Wow that does seem like a terrible plan. I'd hate to add at least one, but potentially two young starters plus a playmaking wide receiver and a defensive lineman that is ideally suited for the 3-4 on draft day.
Sheppard is a good player. His knock has been injuries/health issues. If he could stay healthy, lining up with Revis would be quite a tandem.
I wasn't talking about the Jets, Patriots or Ravens. I was merely using it as a point that some mocks have Ellis falling to the Bengals Which if they sit still, is true, Ellis would fall to them. But there is a chance teams below them move up to take Ellis since he had a great outing on his Pro Day. There was reason to believe that the Saints #10 would love to take Ellis or the Broncos #12.
actually i think they ll stay there and draft WR... a WR with size.. which what they really need.. and that s Limas Sweed
Guidelines is the key word here. The value chart is not gospel and all teams have their own chart, so the values vary. Also most importantly, the value of a pick is based on the player available there, not what a spreadsheet says. Let's face it, considering the needs the Jets have and what players "fit" their system, that pick is a lot less valuable if Gholston/McFadden are gone. The chart also does a poor job (IMO) accounting for the difference in cost of a top 6 pick. Let's ignore the spreadsheet for a moment and assume Gholston/McFadden are gone. Which would you rather have: Leodis McKlevin or Lito Sheppard and Limas Sweed (or Quentin Groves)? The idea that the Jets would be getting ripped off in that scenario is absurd.
VW and Ferrari and NFL draft value chart?...what a comparison. In that case, let me make a bit more clear. Eagles only want a VW, not Ferrari. They will never pay for a Ferrari when they are not interest in it. We wanna get rid of the Ferrari because its expensive and insurance (guaranteed money) is too costly. We can pick up Michael Schumacher (Lito) along with a Porsche (19th) and a Lotus (3rd rounder). Got you confused did'nt I? Next time compare with things that are comparable.
People can get locked into the chart to the point that they no longer make sense. It is a guideline, not an immutable truth from the mount. If the people we really want are gone by #6 and philly wants someone still available and is willing to make a deal, I would take Leto and #19 in a heartbeat and screw the chart. We'd be filling 2 positions of need with good players instead of just one, and that's worth it.
Let me put it you this way. If you were to offer the 19th pick and Lito Shephard to the Jets for their 6th pick, the light on the Madden fair trade checker would be green.
