My friend caught wind of a rumor that the Eagles are looking to trade the 19th pick and Lito Sheppard to move into the Top 10 of the first round. Would you make this trade at 6? I think I would do it if the Eagles would throw in a second-day pick.
Why would they give up a 3rd rounder as well? Maybe a 2009 3rd rounder.........either way, sounds good.
Same here. Benefits everyone if that's what they want as we get our CB, get a 3rd rounder back, and are free to select one of Limas Sweed, Malcolm Kelly, Derrick Harvey, Quentin Groves, etc.
Here is the source of the rumor, which does not name the Jets: http://www.nj.com/columns/times/eckel/index.ssf?/base/columns-0/120745473632280.xml&coll=5
Would have to be a second round pick, and Sheppard. Chart says.... 1600 (6) 875 (19) (725) (residual) (390) 19th rd 2 (335) Value of Sheppard.(low 2nd round 57,58)
It might work on the chart, but at first glance, that seems like an awful lot for the Eagles to give up.
That wasn't a rumor, that was written by a west jersey sports columnist as what he thought they should do and that wouldn't be enough to get them any farther than the 9th or 10th pick.
what the eagles want in the top 6 is what i am wondering. I don't see them wanting matt ryan with mcnabb and kolb there. Don't think they want mcfadden with westbrook. Maybe gholston? They'd probably love Jake Long but then they would have to trade up to two maybe even one. I doubt this rumor will have anything to do with the jets.
That is really crazy. There are only 6 or 7 guys worth a top 15 pick this year and you are willing to give that up for Lito Sheppard? We don't even need a CB and we give away our top pick for one? I know what we get back and no way is it worth the #6 pick in this year's draft.
We definitely do need a cornerback, but not for the value he is willing to give up for Sheppard. I'd rather reach for one of the corners in this year's first round than give that much up if it comes to that.
Here is the article that "rumor" is based on. http://www.nj.com/columns/times/eckel/index.ssf?/base/columns-0/120745473632280.xml&coll=5
I guess this opens up options for a trade down. Cincy and the Saints are looking to draft a DT (at least mostly Cincy is desperate for a DT according to a few mocks from 'experts') and with Ellis available (or Gholston or a CB for which the Saints can stay put for) I believe opens up the door for the Jets to move down to 9 or 10, trade with the Eagles, pick up a shutdown corner in Lito AND possibly acquire a couple of picks in the 2nd and 3rd (I'd switch picks with the Eagles from #9 or #10 which we get from Cincy or the Saints, down to #19, take Lito and the Eagles 3rd this year). Of course I'm saying this with little research on what picks the Bengals and Saints have in the 2nd round, and with 5 o'clock around the corner. But, that's how I'd work the Lito deal.
No no no. Nobody will trade with the Jets to be in position to get a DT. They know they won't draft one, they know NE won't draft one and they know Baltimore won't draft one. All 3 play the 3-4. So why trade up with the Jets so you can waste all that extra money?
Or how about Lito, 19, a 4th this year, a 2nd next year, a 1st the following year, and a 2nd and 3rd the year after that? Maybe even a 5th and 6th next year too!!!!
