I'd like a RT somewhere in rounds 2-4. Maybe take a Guard in the later rounds as well I'm not sold on Moore he's trash. On a totally unrelated subject, I f*ckin' miss C-Martin.
So handing out 80 million to two guys with 7 Pro Bowls, 2 SB rings, and 274 career starts between them isn't MAKING them?
Is there even a remote possibility that we can trade our second round pick to the Bengals for Chad. They did draft him in the second round so it would be a even swap. Hell we could even throw Drob in there for nothing. I think it would be great for both teams if it could happen.
1) Chad is not going anywhere. Its been stressed by the Bengals for 2 months. 2) A second round pick for a Pro-Bowl, game changing WR because he was drafted there? 3) If that is good for both teams, then the Bengals want to lose for the next 5 years.
Listen NE is not the blueprint for the 3-4 defense. They are playing to their strength- a very strong Dline and aging LB corp. Usually the pressure comes from the OLb in the 3-4. You have better chance of fixing your 3-4 if you concentrate on getting pass rushing OLbs/DEs, than trying to do it the New England way. Reason why the 3-4 is in vogue is because it easier to find OLbs /DE Tweeners than it is finding DLineman. Kimo Van Oelhoffen or K Coleman are not the reason your 3-4 defense failed. When the other areas are weak)No NT and no pass rushing OLbs) those players aren't going to look good. Again in 3-4 defense finding capable 3-4 des is not that hard.
I say there is a good chance Chad Johnson is moved during the draft, despite what Bengals have said. See Randy Moss. You want to pay a player at high salary who might not give it his all, and Is a distraction/cancer in the lockerrrom. Bengals have alot of problems(are probably going through a rebuilding phase) Chad Johnson by himself, not going to make Bengals win any more games. Of course Bengals are going to say they have no intention of trading C johnson. Why would you, and lower his trade value. I say its 70 % chance they move him during the draft.
You might be on to something there. The problem is they wouldn't settle for anything less than a 1st and nobody would give that up for him because of the baggage that comes with him. Oakland could only get a 4th for Moss and it was about the same situation.
First off I wouldn't say Randy Moss and C Johnson situation the same. Randy Moss was due something Like 10 million dollars a year on books(salary) and wasn't willing to restructure. Chad Johnson I don't believe on books for that much. That Bengals have to get rid of him. Also Chad Johnson has never stop trying on the football field, Randy Moss has. With that said, I think best Bengals will get is a second round pick in 2008 and a conditional pick in 2009(something the Raiders blew not getting with Moss)
You make people respect you on the line of scrimmage with snot knocking and stoning and smacks to the mouth, not your check book.
A 2nd round pick is about what the Bengals would get for Chad Johnson if they traded him right now. He's getting towards 30, although not there yet, and he's not exactly the guy that everybody is afraid of on that team - he drops too many balls for that. Houshmandzadeh is the guy people double-cover on the downs when they have to stop the Bengals right now.
I am going to coordinate a visit to my bro in Silicone Valley when the NYJs play you this fall. Do you have 2 xtra tix for sale? You can contact me off list at championjets69@yahoo.com to discuss this matter.
Raiderjeaux lives in New Jersey. I can't believe you keep posting your email address on a public forum.
Most of the better 3-4 D's have better players than us at that position not just NE. Seymour is the prototype, but both San Diego and Dallas are better as well.
We need a DL that stops the run, and neutralizes the OL. We need a LB corps that knocks down everything in front of them -- including the QB OFTEN. We are far from finished fixing the defense. Gholston at No. 6.
No one would ever admit to being from NewJersey. I Don't live in NewJersey. I live in upstate New York.(Mahopac) Alot of my family members are season Ticket Jet fans(Hey every family has skeletons in their closet they aren't proud of) You can contact ME at RAIDERSAREGOINGTOtheSUPERBOWLIN2008@aol.com(Just joking as its not a valid email address. I would go to ticketmaster.com and order your tickets.(when schedule come out) I don't think you will have a problem. Just don't wear any Jet green in Oakland
Mostly all those Teams have DT playing DE. (Your looking for two gap players to eat up as many blockers) What makes Sandiego 3-4 IS Having Merriman and shaun Phillips at outside lBs( Pace and B Thomas pale in comparison to those two Dallas has demarcus Ware and Greg ellis at OLB. Look at the sacks they get from their OLBS and what your two Olbs had in their best years. Again thats where Jets have to upgrade and WHy I think Gholston has to be high on their wish list. Raiders will hybrid defense this year(play 4-3 and 3-4) De TOm Kelly 6'6 305 NT Grady Jackson 6'2 350(supposedly I Hearing will sign with the Raiders at some point/ Gerard Warren 6'4 335 /T sands 6'7 335 RDe William Joseph 6'6 305/ Jay Richardson Even raiders can throw out a way more explosive OLB tandem D Burgess and Kalimba Edwards/ Thomas Howard- would be a beast coming off the corner. Jets want to take their 3-4 defense up a level you need to upgrade B Thomas spot.
Yea you could have sworn I said alot of things. Maybe you are confusing me with the other raider fan that sometimes comes here.
I didn't know cliches help you win football games... And again I ask...guys in their mid-prime years with 7 Pro Bowls, 2 rings, and 274 starts between them won't help us with "snot knocking and stonings and smacks to the mouth?" How is this any different from drafting a guy? In fact, how is it not way better?
